General performance increases, particularly for lower end GPUs
Experience (XP) system enhancements:
Dynamic XP system for player kills, players who have more kills XP earned on their current life are worth more XP. Freshly spawned players will be worth a fraction of the current kill reward.
Partial damage XP for dealing damage to vehicles that you don't end up killing
Population XP / Resource bonus moved over to continent population instead of global
Better display of XP sources for things like defensive bonuses & population bonuses
Rebalancing of XP rewards to help support tasks
Server transfer token available in Depot

Planetside 2 Roadmap (every update to come in the next 6 months)

If you want a 10 minute summary of the patch then watch this:

and a 20 minute more detailed video for the patch by TotalBiscuit:
Looks like they are taking a step in trying to fix all 3 major problems:

  • The way XP works
  • Performance Issues
  • Spawn camping and spawn farming

Looks good. I'm a little worried though because it says GPU performance increases instead of CPU.

Performance will increase overall but as Matt Higby said:

Edit: I wanted to add that just because you don't see things like "metagame fixes" or "render distance" on this list doesn't mean they're not high priority changes or that we're ignoring those issues - they're just larger problems and as you'd expect that means they generally take longer to solve. Just because something isn't getting addressed this update doesn't make it lesser or lower priority than the things that are addressed in the patch. When planning an update we have to balance what we need to do with what we can fit. Those type of large scale adjustments are built from a variety of changes over a long period of time, not just one bullet point in one update note. Once we have the longer term plan out there for you guys to look at you'll see how some of these more meaty changes slot into the schedule.

So I guess either they mean that they have also increased CPU performance or it is on the to-do list.

This thread doesn't belong on these forums. While technically news, does anyone realize what this section would look like if everybody started posting patch details for all the games out there? doh.gif

Usually the big multiplayer games patches are posted.

Also have a look at this if you think that I falsely made this thread

Planetside 2 is Game of the Year kind of big, so that kind of counts. Lovely to see optimization, I just want to see even more.

There will be more details for everything the more they get into the testing phase, in other words I believe there will be more details in the next 2 weeks about everything.
