Please tell me if this is in the wrong section.

Some programs and games etc. in Vista have told me that my processor (AMD 3000+ 1.8GHZ) is running at 1.0 ghz. Anyone know why? Thanks

Do you have "cool and quiet" disabled in your bios?

I pity da fooo dat don't dis.... dis.... dis.... un-enable der cool and quiet.

Don't do milk, stay in drugs and drink your school!

Disable it and you should be set. The cool and quiet makes your processor run at a lower frequency to consume less power, create less heat which in turn reduces fan speed, and thus noise.
