Love the project. Out of curiosity where did you find that miniPCI-Express to 1x PCI-Express adapter? I have the same Mobo and would like to order one.

Project looks like it'll be put on the back burner unfortunately. I decided to go full on custom water cooling with my current SG08. Dual 180mm radiator, Apogee Drive II, Swiftech GPU block, etc.

Might look into building a custom case for a system like this but just don't have the time as of right now unfortunately. I still want my extra PCI slot and a place for my slot loading Blu-Ray burner. A custom case is still in my future for sure, just not based on this original idea.

A dual 180 will fit...? How? That's literally longer than the case. Have you seen this 280mm SG08? Also, I sent a message to Dwood about creating the mounting "brackets" seen in the linked build, as well as creating a custom SG08 cover so that the top of the case looks nicely finished, and he said he'd be interested in doing it. Right now he's very busy with the Compact Splash cases, but I may ask him again after that.

Haha yeah I meant dual 140mm! tongue.gif

Yeah the one you linked is pretty much what I've got except I used a Apogee II Drive instead of a separate CPU block and pump. Thinking I might see about adding a mini reservoir where he added a pump. Have it running now as a closed loop system where everything is just closed off...like the all-in-one coolers.

Who knows, I just got all the parts a few days ago and for now I just have the radiator sitting on the outside of the case and what not just to run it for a while. Will need to take it all apart and measure everything and then construct it at a later point in time. Runs fine though, 7970 @ 1300mhz sits around 45C and my 2500k @ 4500mhz is around the same temp when burn testing. 280mm radiator does a fantastic job!

Wow... Those temps are really impressive. Adding a res would be a good idea. I've been thinking about getting the Swiftech H220, but I'm worried about my temps. I'm thinking about waiting for the H240, a dual 140mm version that is rumored to be coming out in a few months. If you're interested in getting a custom shell fabricated, you should PM me. We could try to work out the details with Dwood and get a nicely finished system. smile.gif May make me reconsider getting the NCASE M1.

Yeah the temps so far are awesome. Using the Koolance high fin density radiator, two Swiftech Helix 140mm fans, Apogee Drive II for the pump/CPU block and a Swiftech MCW82-7900 GPU block with their full coverage heat sink (attached a 80mm fan...VRM's top out at about 65C during stress testing).

Best part though? At full speed the system is still whisper quiet. It's an amazing difference from the 120mm fans I was using that still didn't cool as well. My GPU temps are like 20C lower using this full on water cooling compared to the AIO solutions.

As far as the case goes I will still most likely design my own. I am quite set on that, just need to find the time and know how as to how to do it, technically speaking. Thought about just going for a tower ITX case or possibly micro-ATX, but I REALLY like the SG08 form factor.

Like I said, we'll see what happens. thumb.gif

What made you go for the thinner Koolance radiator, as compared to the 45mm Alphacool that was used in that other build? I guess you'll have a lot more space with the thinner radiator and only one set of fans when you end up putting it in the case, which is nice. The whisper quiet acoustics you describe is exactly what I'm looking for. It's the reason why I switched to mounting my H60 on my GPU instead of my CPU. The whirring of the GPU fan was just too bothersome.

Yeah, the SG08 form factor is just amazing... I only wish it had been designed from the ground up for an SFX PSU and for a dual 140/120 radiator set up. I honestly don't want to go bigger than the SG08. The transition from my tiny SG06 to SG08 was bad enough. haha

It is a slim radiator. H50 thinness. I didn't want a thick radiator really...space concerns, pricing, and in all honesty it just isn't needed. Look at my temps.

Who knows, it's something I'll have to work on and get figured out. Like I said, unless I can get the SG08 the way I want a custom case will be in order. I've talked to Dwood a while back and he was interested in helping me get the pieces.

That's true... Those are amazing temps for a 2500K and a 7970, both OC'd. What're your methods for temp testing? Newest version of Prime and Furmark? Also, I know temps are likely to rise a bit when in a case with constricted airflow, but I'm sure they'll still be great.

It seems like the Apogee Drive II may be a better pump than what's in the H220, leading me to consider it... Hmm...
