You don't need a 1200W power supply, even with 2 HD 7970s.
Looking good but there's a few thing you are wasting money on.
  • Do you really need 64GB of RAM?! Unless you're running multiple virtual machines, running huge servers etc you will not use more than 16GB. Go with 4x4GB sticks and be happy!
  • In a high end system like that you NEED an SSD, go with a Samsung 830, Crucial M4 or something. Even if it's just a 64GB drive to put the OS on.
  • As for the peripherals, the only good ones CM make are their mechanical keyboards so you may want to look elsewhere for your mouse, headset and mouse mat.
  • You can fit the NZXT Kraken X60 in that case which vastly outperforms the Corsair H100i so I would definitely go with that instead.
  • Finally, that PSU is massively overkill as stated. With two 7970s, a 6 core processor and heavy overclocking a good 750W is enough.

Hope this helped! smile.gif

I will be adding more stuff later on more hard drives and ssd's on top of that have 2 more cards to go on top of the two i will already have ... CrossFire sucks down some serious power if you didn't know already that's the reason for the 1200W psu...

That system won't pull more than 650W from the wall under full FurMark and Prime95 load when overclocked.

Wanna make a dream system plus want be changing for a few years and will also be using for hosting websites for work plus design work i will be doing ?

I'm going to test a load of gear when i'm at the shop so maybe will change if i like another one or brand

All Water coolers are made at the same place if you didn't know already that' the company who makes them are : http://www.asetek.com/kraken-x60.html

after doing some home work on the psu i would rather have something over the top then later going out having to buy another psu ..

Thank you so much smile.gif

A 1000 watts PSU could still power a PC 3 7970 cards and still have power left over

Power Consumption Results: A pair of AMD Radeon HD 7970 video cards running in CrossFire sucked down some serious power and our system was pulling in 641 Watts at the wall or around 5.5 Amps when running Furmark. This is some serious power draw, but remember you are also getting insane performance. Running a pair of the fastest video cards in the world is certainly not ideal if you are going for energy efficiency. That said at idle the Crossfire system drew only 100 Watts of power from the wall, which was only 5 Watts more than a system with a single 7970 card in it!

Most are made by Asetek or CoolIT, yes. However the Kraken X60 has a 280mm radiator and a more powerful pump while the H100i only has a 240mm radiator. The Kraken X60 does perform better.

Does the case he picked have 140mm fan mounts?
