Since it doesnt have a full waterblock.....

Well my wife (without listing to me lulz) bought this 7970 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814202008&gclid=CJ_tn5T76LQCFQJx4Aod6AsAew

And it doesn't use a Reference 7970 pcb and EK site says it doesnt make a block for it. So I was wondering if I could just buy one of these, http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16990/ex-blc-1218/EK_VGA_Supremacy_Universal_High_Performance_VGA_Cooling_Block_-_Acrylic_EK-VGA_Supremacy.html?tl=g30c357s922

No idea how well they are or if I should just wait for a full block to be released.

Thanks for the help thumb.gif

You'll need this as well: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14971/ex-blc-1051/EK-VGA_Supreme_HF_HD7970_Cu_Adapter.html?tl=g30c357s922

Universal blocks might cool a tad better than fullcover blocks but they're just not as cool looking. I have a universal EK on my 570 ... should've gotten the fullcover. My VRM's could use the cooling tongue.gif (currently ziptied a 120 fan over them)

Not possible to return it? Or trade it with someone for a ref PCB?

zipties + fan thumb.gif (doesn't need much, just something that moves some air over the heatsinks)

You could get something like those Antec Spotcools if you want something that looks a bit better, or glue some small fans on the heatsink (someone has done that and it looked really sweet actually)

Thanks! Rep+

Well, decided we will just wait to see if a full block ever shows up lol.

Is there any card that hasn't gotten a block? I know the lightning had to wait awhile before it got a block....
