The Wii U is more powerful than the Xbox 360, which Metro:LL is being released for. Yet they aren't able to release it for the Wii U due to hardware limitations? I am not buying that, I think there are other reasons behind it, either skill based or financial. Skill based being they simply aren't comfortable with the Wii architecture and don't want to invest into building on it, or they don't see a financially reasonable situation.

For any of you to just say the Wii U isn't capable of running this game, while the Xbox 360 can, is just laughable.

The title says "Horrible, slow CPU" and the quote later in the article reads "Horrible, slow GPU"
be nice if they could make up their minds.

^the wii u barely manages 1/2 of the memory bandwidth of the xbox 360.

"360: 22.4 GB/s + eDRAM for framebuffer
PS3: 25.6 GB/s main memory BW + 22.4 GB/s graphics memory BW, no eDRAM

GTX 680: 192.2 GB/s tongue.gif"

the wii u is only around 17 GB/s
the wii u is basically using a smartphone-level CPU with an integrated-graphics-level GPU.
conclusion: it sucks and is only suitable for kiddy-level Marios. (not saying that I hate Mario, just that the console really is oriented for gamers in elementary and middle school levels more than adults)

And where are you getting the information that the Wii U is more powerful? Last I checked, the Wii U had a 1.24GHz tri-core processor while the 360 has a 3.2GHz tri-core.

The Wii U has an R700 series 550MHz GPU, while the 360 has an R600 series 500MHz GPU.

Wii U has a slight (and I mean slight) edge in the GPU department, but not hamstrung by that ridiculous CPU.

For heaven's sake, the Playstation Vita has a more impressive CPU than that.

^thank you.
i mean, most high-end smartphones these day have 1.5 GHz dual-cores or even 1.6 GHz quad-cores. while the Wii U, unconstrained by battery, run 1.24 GHz. ridiculous. i wouldn't buy any non-battery system with a CPU <2 GHz.

and let's not forget that R700, which goes in the HD 4000 series, was a 2008 GPU architecture. rolleyes.gif
whoever buys the Wii U either is a hipster or is probably not very tech-literate.

The CPU's (and GPU's) in the 360 and PS3 where state of the art 8 years ago. Tech evolves you can't just compare GHz, its not how it works. This is OCN for crying out loud. People should know better.

Their logic just blows me away....

When it comes to Intel vs AMD they all shout "It isn't just about clock speed! It's about IPC and architecture!", but the moment it turns into a Nintendo vs Microsoft discussion it is "GHZ! OMG LORD PWNZ ALL! SPEED!!" and suddenly architecture and inefficiency doesn't matter. rolleyes.gif

I don't care if the Wii U was only .0025% more powerful than the 360, that would still prove that there is another reason for Metro:LL not coming to the Wii U.

Even looking at the raw hardware specs, the Wii U has double to quadruple the RAM of previous systems, higher end GPU, and a triple core processor. I am absolutely calling bull crap on a "slow cpu" being the issue.
