If I were in the market for cheap storage, this is nice. Same deal for Canada on newegg.ca (just replace.com with .ca in item URL) cept its $80 - $20 coupon code and $5 shipping. Though a site memoryexpress.com price matches even sale items and shipping rates and will knock off 25% of the difference. Just got a Hyper 212 plus for $16 shipped.
I bought one for my moms pc, on the label it says samsung and the opposite corner says barracuda, so not like the old ones sadly. I have the original 1tb F3 and a 500gb version as well, Fantastic drives, I hope this new one lasts..
I should have bought 5 of these back in the Summer of 2011, right before prices hiked! Bought 1 for 65 bucks, then a couple months later they were easily 150-160 bucks for a Terabyte.
My original F3 tanked after about 1.5 years. I was really sad. Seagate sent me a rebranded F3 back. It was a sad day. Now I am on SSD so it doesn't matter anymore.

when it comes to HDDs, you want the best random access times, which these puppies have an edge over the blacks. Very good drives for the price. Back in the day they were only 50 bucks.

well missed out, but i hear the new wd blue ezex single platter terabytes are faster on some cases than the blacks, i might go for one on ncix, only $70, still a little high from preflood but low for things now as it is

See, the reason why people see such huge performance gains from SSDs is not because of the high read/write speeds they are marketed for. It comes down to the small file reads and random access times. You only see the marketed values if you transfer massive amounts of data over LAN or between drives. Seriously, most people don't even download about 4 MB/s which does not saturate a standard HDD in the first place. it's like gaming and internet providers. Latency is what counts; you draw, on a typical basis, no more then 200 kbps.
This is 5 dollars cheaper than what I paid for it a few years ago, lol. Sadly 3 months after I bought mine it dropped to 40...
