Help me understand something about response time

The story so far... tongue.gif

I had a Samsung T220 with 2ms gtg

I then bought a Samsung S23B300B with 5ms gtg

Big problem: I noticed the higher response time immediately!

Now im looking at a new 22" monitor with 16:10 aspect ratio. 2ms response time, and LED

The problem is there aren't too many available to me, but I did find one of these

http://www.dell.com/us/en/enterprise/peripherals/dell-e2213/pd.aspx?refid=dell-e2213&cs=555&s=biz

Now, in the specs of that, it says it has 5ms (black to white)

What I would like to know is, how is that going to compare to gtg?

I believe the black to white speed is roughly around 3 times that of the grey to grey speed, so 5ms black to white would be around 2ms grey to grey.

Are you sure you're not confusing input lag with response time? At 60Hz you should not notice a difference between 2ms and 5ms.

Well I was under the assumption that I wouldnt, but the very first time I played on it, I noticed it, and it was terrible.

I have swtiched between: Samsung 932GW, Samsung T220 and Samsung S23B300B

The S23B300B is 5 ms and the other 2 are 2ms

On the 932GW and the T220 I notice nothing, but if I switch to the S23, its very apparent :/

You didn't answer his question. He's asking if it's input lag you're seeing, or response time (you didn't specify).

Input lag is the time taken for the monitor to react to your input
(The time it takes a character to move based on mouse movement say*)

Response time is the time taken for pixels on the monitor to change, given new information from the GPU
(If a fast car moves across the screen in a game, do you see a ghost image right behind it? Like this)

*mouse input lag ignored here.

Oh, I do apologise, but yes, it is ghosting and not input lag.

Theres a possibility that isnt too good either :/
