Tell him to get a Samsung 32 inch LED LCD.

Or an LG 32 inch

My personal pick would be the 32 inch Samsung UN32EH5300F LED LCD HDTV. It's got the best customer reviews and Samsung LED's in this price range have great picture quality for the price and also a lot of features like SMART functionality.

It's also got 3 HDMI inputs.

Motion performance is mediocre as all LED LCD's are in this price range however since he's a professional photographer, he wouldn't be worried about that.
