Win 8 Slow boot times

Thread Starter
Hi all

I am having slow boot times with Windows 8

Currently its taking 40 seconds from the moment I hit the power on button to the moment it gets in

This seems slow to me, I really was expecting it to be fast like others I've see (average about 10 seconds)

OS is on Vertex 4 256gb ssd, with RAM Cache setup

Mobo is Rampage 4 Formula with 3301 BIOS, and Fast Boot enabled

No Anti Virus running either

Any ideas?

40 seconds from power on to desktop - I set it to auto login.

the windows logo stays on screen for about 10 seconds

also I have classic shell and skip metro suite on there too - maybe that's whats slowing it up?

to try find which is causing the slow boot up , i would disable all non-critical application from starting with windows and see if it improves the boot speed ,

also new windows task manger will give a good idea which is causing the slow boot up

With the default settings does it still take as long (no overclocking)? Did you set it to AHCI mode?
