Asus PEG Link

Thread Starter
I was looking at some of the features in my bios and came across "PEG Link"

I wasnt sure exactly what this was so I did a bit of googling, and came across only 1 article on it tested on an nvidia card. Though the article did not show any increase for the nVidia other than at very high screen resolutions I decided to do a bit of testing.

At 2.8GHz CPU, and 594gpu/621mem on my ATI X850XT - PE I was able to pull a peak of 7336 3DMarks in 3DMark05. So I decided to play around with the PEG Link which is supposed to help graphics card performance, and increase frame rates.

The results....

Overclocked at 2.68GHz CPU, and 594/641(little bit of a bump up on memory) and PEG Link on "Fast" I was able to pull 7447 3DMarks via 3DMark05...

I would recommend this setting, because even with a lower clock speed I was still able to pull a higher score, though this may not help other cards, or members who dont have Asus boards, (though im not sure if any other boards have this feature) And though I did give the card a memory speed increase my basline at 594/621 with PEG Link on fast was 7414, so the memory increase didnt help as much as I had hoped. Well Hope this information is useful!

Here is the 3DMark Score

good info,,,I too have played w/ this setting, but more for correcting issues at high FSB's. When I would clock over 400mhz, my PCI-e bandwidth would choke down to 1x. This is visible when you look at the second screen tab on cpuZ. By adjusting my PCI-e freq to 110mhz and setting the peg link to fast, I was able to get a stable clock at 460mhz w/ no issues.

Thanks for the input though,,,glad to know it helps.
