[IGN] Aliens: Colonial Marines Requirements - Page 17

What the hell happened to Aliens: Colonial Marines?

Demo vs actual gameplay.

http://youtu.be/3z2qVebxlUo

This looks like the Far Cry 3 demo fiasco. People really need to stop pre ordering games for nonsense like skin packs. It just encourages these companies to continue these shady practices.

So true. It's pathetic that they make these fantastic looking demo's and then release the final version that clearly looks sub par. Yes, they do state that it's "a work in progress and not representative of the final product" but generally I take that meaning that it's a whole lot rougher and unpolished than what the final product will be not so obviously better. IMO, it's blatant false advertising.

Then we have the embargo so that games journo's weren't allowed to publish their reviews until AFTER the game has been released letting all the impatient idiots pre-order or buy on day one blind. I just don't understand publisher's obsession with day one sales. Is it really just so they can report back to their share holders saying "we sold this many copies on day one!"?

With these idiotic and irresponsible practices, no wonder the AAA video game industry is going down the toilet.

After D3, I vowed to never pre-order again. I have pre-ordered since the NES/SNES days, with titles in the Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Metroid franchises, etc. I pre-ordered Diablo II after playing Diablo, I pre-ordered Diablo 3........and that is when I stopped.

Actually, that is a lie. I did pre-ordered Borderlands 2, but I got it with all the DLC for $30, so it got a pass on that rule.

i pre-order all the time, but usually only if it comes with something like an art book or dev diary and especially a statue or figurine. while i can see the point they are making, i dont buy into this whole "stop pre-ordering because it hurts the industry" stuff. the industry only becomes as evil as people are making it out to be sometimes. i love my gaming, i really do, i guess i just dont take it seriously enough to read into it like this.

if i want some of the pre-order bonuses, or i want to play the game day 1, i'll make it happen. i havn't pre-ordered as much lately, because my back catalogue is too long, i cant keep up with gaming at the moment tongue.gif

I generally don't pre-order unless it's a special edition with something worthwhile (like the Facehugger with AvP) or a game I have really, really been looking forward to. I won't pre-order just for digital content, I honestly think that's pretty pointless (especially in this day and age of console gaming where that content will be useless once next generation hits, or the servers are discontinued, anyway). I want something physical to make my pre-order worthwhile otherwise I'll just wait for release and reviews before I make my purchase. I'll also gauge whether I make a pre-order depending on the price of what I'm ordering.

yep im pretty much the same. with the exception of some games, like Borderlands 2. but thanks to Borderlands 1 experience, i knew what to expect i knew that i would love it, and i do. i cant stop playing it. i got the premier edition for the extra digital content.

i dont think i've ever pre-ordered anything else that didnt have physical content though. the reasons you mention above are pretty much it. especially if the bonus content is online only stuff. i dont get much time to play online anymore so its pretty much worthless for me.

im glad i didnt jump in and pre-order the Aliens: CM season pass though.. not because i dont like the game. because no one else does, so the content probably wont be worth anything if no one plays haha.
