Already very expensive. This card should not more expensive than 7970 Ghz.

A 680 oc'd to 1325mhz would close most of that gap.

I agree with the statement that only the end result matters; Clock for clock comparisons mean little when you're comparing different architectures. Anyway, I also went from 7970 xfire to 680 sli - Honestly, at first I wasn't impressed there was no performance difference. Some games such as metro 2033 and crysis 1 were slower. Although nvidia obviously has its share of wins (skyrim)

It should be mentioned that the 680 is not amazing for overclocking unless you get a MSI lightning. Kepler throttle and voltage lock will hijack many overclocks, and even successful overclocks are greatly hindered by kepler throttle. Lesson being? If you overclock, get the lightning.

All in all, I love my 680 lightnings though - and I do hope that nvidia allows voltage adjustment in their upcoming GK114 cards. I also really like nvidia's software, being able to tweak in nvidia inspector is a huge plus.

I'm with SaiyanSnake. I'm holding out for dat 780. I think the price cuts are just another confirmation that they 7xx series will be out soon.

Price cuts could mean that Nvidia is stumped on the fact that they can't get a higher performing miracle driver to compete with AMDs 12.11 driver. Not necessarily the new 7xx series is being released soon.

The last sets of drivers from Nvidia have mixed reviews from many users. I noticed no gtx 580 price drops before the gtx680 was released.

I think you miss those days on the launch of AMD 7xxx and GTX 6xx.

AMD cards was $50-$100 more expensive than before GTX 6xx arrives. It took them 4 weeks before AMD lower the prices on their cards.

Yeah but it's going to be very expensive. GTX 780 expected for March 2013. I am guessing the price is going to be $600 and down to $500 after a month or two.
