And which system would take advantage of that 60" TV if it does 1080p? Only the PC. It's just hard to find a good reason to play a multiplatform title on console when you have a gaming PC already.

After looking at Op's computer specs I'd be playing on Ps3 too. To the guy above just hook your console gamepad up to PC. I use my 360 controller for all my games on my PC. All the new games have the drivers already that allow them to sync with the controller. So during in game action it will say use "A" button rather then F key for example. Its awesome.

From my experience (having the large 3D tv) the built in 3D systems of these large screen TVs don't play as well with PCs as they do with consoles unless your using the Nvidia 3D system, and at that point your not going to be using that large TV but a smaller 20-30in screen. I just used it as really a example not as a argument of performance and there really is no arguing a first gen I5/7 and a 480 can push out better graphics then a PS3 in regular 2D.

lol that's a good point. Many modern PC games are horribly optimized on lower settings.

On PC you can lay back and game from your couch too; plug the PC into a TV, and use a controller. PC is far more versatile and can do it all, and as a system it does everything better than any console.
It is far too early to say anything about Steambox. It can easily be looked at as something that's saving PC gaming (as if it needs saving, but I'll get to that after). Steambox will have Steam, all games will be Steamworks and this could mean better mod support than ever via Steam workshop. It would give console gamers a taste of PC gaming, and those who really like what they see might further upgrade to PC. So Steambox might be their attempt to bring PC quality gaming to the masses. Whether I believe this or not doesn't matter, it's far too early to come to conclusions on any of this since Steambox was only just announced.

PC gaming isn't dying either, this is only said by people who blindly love consoles and want PC gaming do be dying. If anything it's growing. Look at what EA and others had to say about their earnings on the PC market. This is typical, since current gen consoles have long overstayed their welcome. As for '07 being the best year for gaming, and '12 not having many good exclusives, that's purely your opinion. In my opinion, PS3 only has four worthy exclusives, excluding sports games and party games. Uncharted and MGS are the only games that really differ from most of what we have on PC, via cinematic storytelling.

But guess what? We have this on PC too, it's just rare on all platforms these days. The Witcher 2 is one, and Mass Effect which is multiplatform takes cinematic storytelling to a farther extent than MGS and Uncharted. Other PS3 exclusives aren't special. God of War? Dumbed down slasher action game... no thanks. Killzone? Consoles are even more gimped for multiplayer games. Anyway, time to get the measuring tape to see how thick the dust layer is on my PS3. thumb.gif

I don't know I've never been a big graphics affeciando. I've been a big fan of art direction and I managed to get XCOM for the PS3 brand new for a very cheap price. It renders at 1080P on my PC LCD and I could care less about the ambient occlusion and graphical things and they will be considered old and low quality graphical effects before we know it yet the thing that we will remember is the good gameplay that the games that we play had and the memorable times we've had with them.

When I think back on the older games that I loved dearly I don't think about their graphics or ambient occlusion I remember the amazing storyline, gameplay, and times that I've had with the game. It's the same thing with movies a good movie is a good movie and will be timeless whether its black and white done in 480P Black and White or in full 1080P I'll remember the movie for the storyline and the moments a long with the well done art (lighting and locations).

Personally I really feel as though PC Gaming is dying for me atleast. Valve has yet to release anything nw that is PC only besides DOTA 2, TF2 went downhill and is now a pseudo MMO, STALKER is no more besides mod support, Bethesda hasnt gotten it right since Morrowind, D&D styled games are long gone as Dragon Age showed as it sucked in my opinion, theres a major lack of "epic" PC Games for me.

I remember when I first got into PC Gaming when HL2 was first released it was exploding with amazing games now it seems like it's console port, oh another indie title, console port, oh maybe we'll see that game for the PC and consoles in 2 years......etc.

I can say the same thing you said about PS3 games to PC Games. DOTA 2? Oh just DOTA reskinned, SC2? A dumbed down version of StarCraft BW that is unbalanced and has a terrible UI, Diablo 3? Oh a terrible game that does not do Diablo 2 justice, how about The Witcher 1? Oh just a RPG with characters that have the same skin and the same old boring cookie cutter quests and a boring fighting system that is easy even on hard mode.

I could never get into Mass Effect 3, Sherperd just feels like a robot and the gameplay was too easy and the storyline too boring but thats just my opinion. Mass Effect has way too many flaws that I can go on all day about.

You forgot about the titles that are actually good on the PS3, like Valkrie Chronicles (basically a modern version of FF tactics nothing like it has ever been released before), Red Dead Redemption, MGS HD Collection, ICO/Shadow Of The Collosus Collection, Demon Souls, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Dragon's Dogma, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and how about the titles that havent even been released yet like The Last Of Us?

Where are the Epic PC games that we are waiting to be released that are not mods or indie games?

Whats funny is that your post is ignorant as I can play any of the latest PC titles at medium settings at 1080P.

There's no point in upgrading my PC for PC Gaming as all of the new releases are console ports a lot of the console games the PC doesn't even get.

I'd rather put my money into photography gear as wasting hundreds for PC gaming is a huge waste right now in my opinion.

Indie games are games too, so why leave them out? That's where most of the creativity is because those devs aren't usually in it for money. You simply cannot argue that PC does not have many games coming out. How "epic" they are is mostly a matter of opinion, but there is a large number of titles on the horizon. I'm personally looking forward to ArmA 3, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha (which is a game now) when it comes to 2013 PC exclusives... and this is just my relatively small scope of games I like. PC has far more exclusives than pretty much any individual console in the last two gens. Aside from these, there are many mods I await that have creativity you won't find anywhere else, and I also look forward to multiplatform games that are much better on PC, such as GTA V.

Pretty much everything else in your post is just your opinion which is fine, but many points you've been trying to prove are false. Just about everything you said about The Witcher is false; they don't use the same skin on characters, except for a few insignificant background NPCs. Plus you totally ignored the sequel for which the storytelling is on a higher level than high budget console titles.

PC gaming is not actually dying but it looks like you've realized that at least. In more recent years, ports are getting much better for PC. As for MMOs, I could not care less. That genre seems like it's getting less popular which is nice, I hope it dies soon. You're in a tiny club if you think Bethesda hasn't got it right since Morrowind, and as for all the Japanese titles you listed... yep, won't find many of those on PC.

Putting aside all the false claims and misconceptions, PC gaming certainly is a huge waste for you. It just doesn't have the games that fit your taste.

Well just talking about Betheseda Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, and Skyrim are extremely easy and anyone can beat them with no problem. Morrowind was actually very difficult and you would get your ass handed to you repeatedly even on the simplest of quests and going off into dangerous territory's meant getting killed fast and the storyline in Morrowind was much better as was the gameplay.

In Skyrim and the rest of the games that I mentioned you can kill anyone easily, the gameplay is too damn easy.

I got bored with all of them very fast as the gameplay was way too easy. I prefer games that are challenging and where just right clicking won't reward you much if at all.

In Skyrim and the rest of the games that I mentioned you can kill anyone easily, the gameplay is too damn easy.

They are easy, as with most games these days. You've got to use mods for these games though. Consoles only get 1/10th of the full games' true potential. Fallout 3 and NV (not Bethesda I know) with the right mods will give you a great challenge if you keep to the hardest difficulty and use such mods. Likewise, Skyrim stays enjoyable and doesn't get easy until around lvl 30 unless you grind smithing (though as a mage it might last longer).

And these are a good challenge too, unlike Uncharted for example, which is easy until you crank up the difficulty to hard/hardest. At this point it's just annoying, no creativity in the challenges at all... just enemies with aimbot. Devil May Cry 1 and 3 were great challenges, though I just can't get into those kinds of games anymore.

It's actually Skyrim and Fallout that do the best job at keeping me glued to PC gaming. I use about 50 mods in Skyrim, 50 in NV, and 30 or so in FO3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the other main reason, but only Skyrim/Fallout really last forever. Consoles to me provided a great one-time experience with Silent Hill, Uncharted, MGS series (I've been playing since MGS1 on PS1), and two or three other titles. Ever since I upgraded to PC gaming, Forza 4 is the only console game that I've racked up over 100 hours in.

I had a lot of fun with STALKER and if its true that they're releasing a new STALKER I will definitly be picking it up. It is hands down the best FPS with the best gunplay in it and it was actually difficult, mysterious, and amazing.

I guess with mods these games come alive but I've always been a big fan of playing the games the way the devs designed them to be played (without mods).

I have to agree though I'm not much of a fan of Uncharted. The gameplay just feels so dry and redundant I beat the first one and the 2nd one is here collecting dust. I've been having a blast replaying the MGS games in HD though along with XCOM and Red Dead. I look forward to play Valkrie Chronicles and Dragons Dogma a long with The Last Of Us.

Cyberpunk is looking good too (if thats the name of the makers of The Witchers new game) and so is the new Thief but only time will tell when they are released.

Well the mods I use only enhance the game, they don't alter the scope of the developers. Some of the make the games more lore friendly. Once you try them with mods, you'd never go back, plus one of the mods I use for Skyrim make it more of an RPG like the previous TES games. Mods are one of the biggest benefits of PC gaming.

The new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game will be a whole different bag of awesomeness altogether. As with TES/Fallout, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. really comes alive with mods but Lost Alpha won't need them nearly as much.

You should try Uncharted 2, it's by far the best in the series. But 1 and 3 do get stale before the twist each one has at the end. I also await Cyberpunk a game made by true PC developers. Perhaps that or The Witcher 3 will be the first games to effectively combine good open world exploration with great cinematic storytelling? But I'm doubtful.
