rad and pump question

Thread Starter
hi guys smile.gif looks like no one is replying to my recent threads tongue.gif anyways

i just ordered a 680 FTW to SLI with my 680 classified both are 4GB and also ordered an xspc full block for the FTW and compression fittings and tubing just wanted to ask

the 360 rad and the pump which came with the xspc rx360 kit will be enough ? or should i get another rad or another pump i will also be getting a block for the classified soon and a full motherboard block for the rampage IV extreme

any suggestion or tips ?

so far the lopp with cpu is perfect temps on idle are mostly around 32-35C happy about it

My advise?
More rads.

If you think you can fit more rads in you case than goferit

The stuff you have no is enough.
However adding some more rad space can't hurt smile.gif

Your pump is also fine but I'd advice against the mobo block though.
They are notorious for having very high restrictions (causes bad flow and adds unnecessary strain on the pump) and honestly, there's no benefit in watercooling your mobo.

If the pump is a D5 (MCP655) or DDC (MCP350/355/35X), then you are perfectly set in terms of pump power. Either one is capable of handling multiple blocks and rads before flow becomes a real issue.

The radiator is where you could stand to benefit from more. The "rule" of having 120mm of rad space plus 1x120mm per component is what many people go by, althoughI tthink it is too general to be considered a "rule ".

Your components:
1x CPU
2x GPU
1x MB

That is 2 BIG heat producers, one big heat producer, and one small heat producer. I would say you are looking at around 550-625W of heat to dissipate under full load.
I personallyaim ffor having 1x120mm of rad space per 100W of heat. That means you are looking at a totalof 6x120mm . This could be done as 3x 240s, 2x 360s, 1x480+1x240, etc. The combination of radsddoesn't matter much, although I would avoid single-fan rads as I consider them to be more like 75W each due to the additional restriction they add.

The RX360 you already have is a fantastic radiator, and an excellent "starting point". I am typing from my phone, so I can't see what case you hav , but I will give some suggestions on radiators that will give you the best coolingffor the money.
- XSPC RX360, simply adding a 2nd one
- Alphacool NeXXos UT60 360/420, one of the absolute best radiators you can get, uses copper entirely in its construction
- XSPC EX360/420 OR AX360 , slimmer but provide a great deal of coolingpower , and inexpensive
- Alphacool NeXXos XT45/ST30, slimmer versions of the UT60, and not far behind their fatter brother
- Phobya G-Changer 360/420
- HWLabs Black Ice SR1, optimized for low speed fans, pricey but phenomenal build quality
- HWL Black Ice GTX, uses 20fpi thus necessitating strong fans, but can provide serious cooling power
- HWL Black Ice GT Stealth, only 30mm thick but with 30fpi can be a powerful radiator, but needs strong fans, likely in push-pull

There are other good ones out there, but the above are all things I can personally vouch for.

I also would recommend a 420 over a 360 if you have room, as you are getting more surface area than a 480 combined with only having 3 dead spots instead of four. I have the EX420 and it's a great radiator, especially consideringiit'sonly $70!
FFor 140 rads, I recommend the Bgears Blasters 140mm fans above anything else, as they are just amazing: 103cfm, 3.5mmH2O, 1800rpm, and dual ball bearing motors for $9-11 each! I have 6 in push pull on the EX420, and I have yet to see a better 140mm rad fan.

Another thing to consider is using push-pull fans instead of just push/just pull. The increase in sound is minimal, maybe 1.5dB, but the increase in cooling power can range from around 10 percent up to 25+! It's the best way to get more out of what you already have.

And if you need another pump, or a new pump, the MCP35X is going to be ideal for a loop like yours.

The HAF-X should be able to hold another radiator, the thing is HUGE! I would ask someone who has moreeexperience with the case, which is about anyone lol.

I would REALLY recommend the MCP35X pump, based on your proposed additions to your loop. It has a significant amount more pressure than does the 655, and it comes with the best available top pre installed, so no expensive modkits.

ok no worries i will go for that smile.gif and what rad do you guys suggest ? another 360 because i think only a single fan rad will fit now tongue.gif because there is no space inside seriously tongue.gif even my 360 rad is touching the rams and is hard to take out because of the less space :/

i will have to put the rad ontop of the case i guess or if i change the case to cosmos or some other

what is the pump top btw :/ ?
