He brings up valid points with his opinion, and really isn't necessarily a bad thing to think about. It's just an area that would normally seem immoral because most people don't feel comfortable with that kind of topic. Whether you like it or not, there are negative connotations with modern medicine, even with most/all of it with the intent of doing good. Doesn't hurt to keep yourself open to other's opinions, even if you don't agree with it.

No, they're not. Did you read the article?

Try telling that to a cancer patient under going treatment and see what response you get.

According to your logic we should all just accept the frailty of mortality, accept what ever disease we get
and die from it because "To live is to die" and "The world is over populated".

Yeah lets just completely abandon the medical field and shut down every hospital because " If your card gets punched. So be it"

He doesn't bring up anything valid. All he's doing is regurgitating the same old crap that the scientifically illiterate have been barfing up for years. This is the same sort of faulty of reasoning that bureaucrats used when sterilizing mentally handicapped people against their wishes in the past.

It doesn't hurt our gene pool to vaccinate our children. It doesn't hurt our gene pool to let "inferior" people breed. It doesn't hurt our gene pool to use technology to circumvent disease.

Well, in a technical sense it does. But if we can essentially treat or cured a disease so it has no adverse impacts on quality of life, then the occurrence of that disease (genetic or otherwise) doesn't matter in the population.

Of course his point is still crazy. Even if for some oddball reason, someone values our "genetic integrity", why would they value that more than the actual people they want to sentence to die? I mean, the whole point of medicine is basically to make those genetic weaknesses inconsequential. Might as well send us back to times when millions died to the polio or small pox. Darn vaccines, saving hundreds of millions (if not billions) of lives and whatnot.

That's just contradicting yourself, its basic natural selection. And if you truly think that only the scientifically illiterate have been regurgitating it for years, then surely you can prove that these people have no understanding of modern science and all of their opinions are baseless.
