Well all of them have high points and low points. I think the key is to sit down and say: "What do I want from my motherboard". So far, no one has been able to get EVERYTHING that EVERYONE wants, so its important to list what is highest priority. Are you looking for Crossfire or SLI (meaning intel chipset or 680i), are you going to use legacy PCI devices (if so, the Abit Max is out)?, Do you like lots of extra features such as onboard sound and onboard wifi (ASUS Pw5-DH). Catch my drift? Then you will be sure to get the mobo that best suits you.

Also, this is a freaking RD600 thread, not 680i, jerks >=(. As for heatsinks on the RD600, dont be surprised if the cooling is REALLY small and passive. The RD600 process is 90nm, which means it should run a great deal cooler than the Nvidia chipset.

As for solid caps, I think they are something that most mobo manufacturers have come to implement on their enthusiast boards and it is something that enthusiasts now expect: whether or not there is a significant performance gain. DFI would be silly not to use them.

So DFI is the only maker for the RD600? If this is true, this is or will be probably the worst board for this kind of GENERATION!--How many new motherboard that you guys know of that doesn't have solid capacitors? (take Gigabytes and Asus for references...) Heck, ECS 680i have them too. I think DFI should be doing other products instead of making many flaws motherboards.

So what if they don't have solid caps. that doesn't make any difference in overclockability, it only adds to the (already long) lifeline of a motherboard going from 5-7 years to 10-15 years of performance. But the years the motherboard is guaranteed to work outlives the occurrence of new hardware being released.

The only one that they have seen. I wonder if they keep motherboards for years and years and especially wonder if they overclock them highly. I have pulled and replaced blown caps many times.

I personally believe that on overclocked machines with buses running over 1600MHz, the time frames where one can easily experience capacitor failure will be far less than the 5 -7 to 10 - 15 years previously mentioned. I do wonder where such finite numbers came from?

Research:

Low ESR and high ripple conductive polymer aluminum solid capacitors will not add any degree of overclock to a system but they will indeed allow that system to maintain higher degrees of overclock for longer periods of time. Many people use their machines longer than a few years. For them and for extreme overclockers there is no doubt that solid capacitors is a blessing, not a bane.
