Man that sucks mad.gif

Do you bleed with the 24 Pin and PCIe Power cables plugged in? You should bleed with everything unplugged. Only leave the pump(s) plugged in and jump the 24 pin ATX with a green and black pin.

And turn on and off the PSU to bleed or remove the pin as often as you need.

Or you can use this! (Click to show)

The main PSU is not plugged in, I'm using another spare PSU to run the pump. That PSU is fine, i'm using a paperclip on the 24pin ATX but the pump does nothing, completely dead. I tested the PSU and I had 12volts so its definitely the pump

I understand what you're going through not being able to game. My PSU died on me last month and I don't have enough spare cash at the moment to get a new one. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Any spare air coolers laying around?

Nothing for an AM3+ motherboard, I don't even have a stock cooler since I bought a bulk CPU without cooler, so if my watercooling doesn't work my rig doesn't work

Edit:// would this be a good replacement pump?

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), default quality

EK DCP 4.0, i had the 2.2 version but I thought if I buy a new one I might as well buy one that can run several radiators and waterblocks for when I include my GPU in the loop.

I know the Laing MCP350 is like the standard recommendation for pumps but I dont have the cash to buy that one, I do want one that is 'future-proof' so if this EK DCP 4.0 will run a loop with multiple radiators and blocks then that's good enough for me.

What do you guys think?

I would go (i did actually) for a D5 Vario, solid performer, silent operation = good choice. The only dowside its the size but hey now you ve got plenty of this. Here is mine just to tempt you biggrin.gif

Okey this is weird, I drained the loop, disconnected the pump and opened it up. There isn't much inside: a rubber kind of o-ring type thingy and a white water wheel (or whatever it's called). I turned the white wheel thinking there might be something blocking it but it turned.

Then I connected it to the PSU (same PSU same cable same pump same everything) and let it run.

IT RAN?!?!?! like nothing was wrong (I know you're not supposed to let pumps run without any water but it was like half a second or so)

Here it is like it is now:

I have no idea why it works now, maybe a faulty connection?

Anyway what I'm wondering now is can I use it? Is it safe? What would happen to my CPU if my pump would die while the rig is running? I obviously don't trust this pump any more but it might just run fine now, and I would rather not buy another crappy pump so if I can use this one I could just save up to buy a decent pump one day.

Need some advice on this guys... bring it on!! thumb.gif

Haven't people ran the power for the pump from their mobo like a fan and mess with BIOS settings to shutdown on fan failure to stop this from happening?

I am not 100% sure since I do not have a watercooling setup, but I think that is what I have read somewhere on OCN.

If your pump fails during the computer is on, the CPU will reach its maximum temperature and shut the System down. No harm will be done.

That was what I thought biggrin.gif

I mailed EK water blocks, we'll see what they say... Does anyone know if there is an EK representative on this forum?
