Best gamepad for PC gaming (preferable around $50)?

Hi. I'm looking to buy a gamepad to use with my computer.

I mainly plan on playing sports games with it (like FIFA and NBA2K), but will also use it with some other games (Super Meat Boy).

Thanks!

Wired XBOX 360 Controller... Works with Windows 7 and you can get them for $30 at Gamestop.

Edit: Amazon has them for $35, I bought one from Gamestop for $30 brand new a year ago.

Or wireless.

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWKQ
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109243

Wireless occasionally has issues in older games, but there is usually a fix.

Also, the bundle is the only way to be certain you are getting a genuine receiver.

The Wired XBOX 360 is probably the best though the Logitech F310 is pretty good to.

I always had issues with the wireless ones, I felt like I spent more time messing around getting the controller to work on each game than I did playing the games. The wired one was plug and play no hassle and it has a decently long cord.

Sleeping Dogs, Assassins Creed, Madden 12 and Battlefield 3 had issues with my wireless one, I had to reconfigure it every time I played. To be fair I got it used from a friend who probably didnt take the best care of it. Though when I bought and plugged in my wired controller I had zero issues, all games just accepted it and played without having to change everything. Side note though, dont play pc version of BF3 with a controller to try and get better at the console version... It dosnt work.

Just get a genuine, wired Xbox 360 controller and you'll never have any issues. They're quality controllers, almost impossible to break, and the wired ones never run into any of the issues associated with wireless controllers, their receivers, or constantly charging batteries which can really put a damper on your gameplay.

I've looked into the Razer, Logitech, and other Xbox 360 game pads and they're nice to look at but the reviews always leave me feeling like the genuine controller is the only way to go. Do some research for yourself and you'll likely come to the same conclusion.

I wouldn't recommend anything but a Xbox controller for the PC simply because most games nowadays, even some which aren't console ports, have built-in support for the 360 controller with no configuration necessary. This makes gaming much less stressful as I hate trying to get my buttons set up in a logical manner each time I pick up a new game.

BF3's binds and assignment UI are a terrible joke. I honestly don't even know what the person who coded them was thinking. And I haven't played the other two but I'm not surprised. rolleyes.gif

so for compatibility, the official controller is better than one from logitech or razer?
