Hey guys n girls!

(I had this posted on another forum, but I thought to myself, why not post it here too, as it will help people thumb.gif )

When I was planning on buying my LG IPS234V - I was confused as to what to go for, and more so what the models meant. This thread is design to help people in that respect.

I thus thought to help out the community & the world wide web - I called LG regarding the following models:
IPS235V, IPS234V, IPS224V, M2352D

Anyway - Here's the information I got from LG UK HQ - as websites are all misleading (including LG's) in the response time of the IPS's (I know that's important to some, including for myself, not to end up with a 14ms IPS, when for the same money you can buy a 5ms IPS screen).

So here is the information I collected - if you don't believe me, call LG yourselves !

First the odd one out:
-M2352D - IPS screen with 5ms response time - and included is a TV tuner, with SCART, 2x HDMI, Antenna, VGA, component (RGB).
LG site: http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-M2352D-monitor-tv

Now for the confusing bits:
The NEWEST IPS screen, as of the 21st of September 2012 is the IPS234V & and the IPS224V - the IPS235V is older and the IPS236V is even older (in fact the 236 is discontinued) - they are working backward with the numbering.
Link to the 236V via LG's site:
http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-IPS236V-led-monitor

Now for the IPS234V & IPS224V difference it is very easy (and this is where LG's site is wrong) - the screen size of the 234V is 23" & the screen size of the 224V is 21.5" - apart from that they are IDENTICAL.

Link to the 234V (23"):

Link to the 224V (21.5"):
http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-IPS224V-led-monitor

And now finally here's what is confusing on all websites I've seen the 235V (23"):
http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-IPS235V-led-monitor

The 235V is the same spec APART from one very important factor:
The response time on the 235V is 14ms, whereas its newer counterpart, the 234V is 5ms.

Connection wise the 224/234/235/236 are all the same - they have 1x HDMI, 1x DVI and 1x VGA.

Here's my review of the IPS234V too (it is a beautiful screen) - in the review I have my colour settings & a video demonstrating it:

I hope this information helps everybody - it sure helped me!

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at these monitors.

Can you see any difference between the LG IPS234V-PN.AEK and the LG Flatron IPS234V.

Different prices on Amazon UK, but they look identical.

UPDATE
I just read this thread:
http://www.overclock.net/products/lg-ips234v/reviews/5463
(okay to be fair you do reference it above) where I guess you answer my question.

But if you see this just take a look at Amazon UK's entries for these two and see what you think. Are they the same, and if so, why the price difference?

they seem to be exactly as I described - just different sellers - I would go with the recognised one - ie. Amazon:

That's the same link where I've bought two of these babies already smile.gif

so i've read the comments on your review, but i still don't understand why LG puts the PN at 14 ms

http://www.lg.com/fr/moniteurs/lg-IPS234V-PN
http://www.lg.com/fr/moniteurs/lg-IPS234V-BN

the resellers are using the correct information, i don't know what i should be buying

The two products I was talking about are these. (Both sold by Amazon UK) But actually on closer inspection there are slight differences to the stands and rear panel inputs. I think the spec is the same. prob the same panel. both 5ms.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008F7GW2K/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008PBXKG2/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

And the second one has the so-called thinner bezel. So they are a bit different after all - at least cosmetically.

Man I have NO idea on that one!
When I called LG they said, that's just a way of resellers to market their products.
The monitors SHOULD be the same

I should state something:
The LG IPS234V IS 14ms but with G2G it goes down to 5ms - that's my understanding of it.
However older models didn't go down to 5ms.

the second one is a later revision.
It has a better stand and supposedly thinner bezel (although that was heavily rejected by people on the internet)

The price difference isn't justified for the same monitor.
I would stick to the cheaper one basically
