[Kitguru] Sapphire 7870 XT (Tahiti LE) review - Page 3

It's a cut down 7950 with an unlogical name as this thread is already proving. 7930 would make more sense. Since it's a different architecture it's very unlikely to have the same issues as a 7870.

The review is wrong, It's not £190, it's on Overclockers UK for £179.99 which is really cheap! I heard you can crossfire this with 7900 series right?

That is what I have read. Will not crossfire with regular 7870.

It is a Tahiti GPU based HD7870. Has more in common with 7900 series cards then 7800 series cards.

No. Only HD7950 or HD7970 which are also Tahiti GPU based cards.

My HD7950 is pushing 1400mhz on core with water cooling. I plan on pushing this 7870XT to the wall as well. smile.gif

well, i was thinking 1100mhz as that's average for a 7950, with the 7870 XT at 1150mhz both at 1600mhz memory redface.gif to see how well they both fair out with one another. it would be a great test for those wondering how well the 7870 XT is and then you can go as far you can on overclock and see how far behind the XT is again biggrin.gif

Really wanted this card a couple weeks ago. Was caught between 7870 and 7950. Sprung for the 7950 and happy I did. But this card looks like the sweet spot . I wish this was named more properly. Either 7930 or 7890.

Since the XT is a Tahiti chip I wasn't sure if that applied to it as well. Depends on the PCB too i'm think. That's why I was asking.

I don't think it needs a shim, this is the VTX3D one though: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/VTX3D/Radeon_HD_7870_XT_Black/images/front.jpg or http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/1860/AMD_Radeon_HD_7870_XT.html
