CLC Noise levels?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm currently building a i5 3570k with a Gigabyte 7950 in the R4 case, and am planning to OC.

I'm debating between getting a CLC and a high end air cooler such as the NH-D14, as they both seem to perform equally well.

As noise is a concern, I was wondering if CLC's such as the x60 kraken will be significantly noisier than high end air coolers?

Also, will I need extra case fans to stick into the R4? Or will the stock ones work?

Thanks!

The included fans in that case look to be descent. You shouldn't have to replace them.

As far as CLC vs air cooler goes, I think its not super black and white. The higher end Noctua coolers tend to cool better than most CLCs, but they are HUGE. I can't attest to noise for those coolers, but I currently have an Antec Kuhler 620 on my CPU and a Corsair H80 on my GPU, and with those I get sufficeint cooling with both OCed. This is with all 6 of my Cougar Vortex (hydro-dynamic bearings) on the lowest setting my fan controller will allow. My system stays very quiet and quite cool, and both of the pumps are inaudible. While gaming the highest temps I see are about 60 CPU and 55 GPU.

So I'm a little biased but I would say CLC is a good way to go.
