Need help deciding which graphic card to upgrade to handle more skyrim mods+add VRAM

I currently have a EVGA GTX 670 with a max boost speed of 1137mhz with 2gb of VRAM. I have mods installed mostly HD Textures and some random things. So as you already know I'm running out of VRAM and my card is almost peaking out in its 122% power target. If I turn the AA & AF from 2x to 8*AA 16*AF my temps with fans on full power which for me is 80% my temps climb above 75c.

So to get to the point, I need to know which card to get. Here is what I'm thinking...

AMD single gpu with 6gb of ram (if they even make these. friend said he saw one I don't know if its true) or AMD dual gpu 6gb which would be 3gb per gpu. or just go with the GTX 690 4gb which is 2gb per gpu.

I'm still new to the whole gpu thing. I do know if I had a 4way SLI using 4gb GTX680's I would not have 16gb or VRAM just 4gbs but I would even the work load between the 4 gpus. if I'm wrong please tell me.

I'm cant find a really big forest where everything goes to there limits. also this pic is 1080 8*AA & 16*AF.

These are the mods I'm using The data.7z is all my textures i used Texture Pack Combiner for this and just stored that data and did not compress it.

I have nearly 300 mods for Skyrim and it runs at around 4-5 gigs of vid ram. I do only have 3 gigs of vid ram for my cards, but it runs with some very minor stuttering. It helps that I have the game on my SSD and also have 16 gigs of system ram.

I'm using 2x7970s and as you mentioned, the vid ram does not stack. So whatever the one single GPU has for ram, will be the same all across the other cards you have.

Now, my example of how Skyrim runs for me, is a bit beyond what most people use. I have over 30 gigs of textures, and I know most people don't really go that over the top. With that said. I think that any 4+ gig GPU would be more than enough.

If you have the cash to do 2x 680 4gigs. That'd be one option... if you want to go with ATI, then 2x 7970s 6gigs would also be another option. I can run the game at over 100fps average and only get minor stuttering when entering new cells and that's only with 3gigs.

You don't really get a huge benefit of having those high end cards and doing CF or SLI in Skyrim though. So also don't expect to simply have it running more than double what you get now.

Plus you'll also generate WAY more heat than with one single card.

Well it doesn't. It spills into your virtual memory and system ram.

OC'ing your CPU would make a HUGE difference in Skyrim. I'll try to dig up some charts... but the game is more CPU intense than GPU.

Edit: Would not even be able to begin to list the mods... I've used the STEP guide and also have gone out of my way to find EVERY item that I could possible and find textures for it.

Some pics, I have not played the game in several months though... so I'm sure there's much better newer stuff out for it now:

now you got me wondering if your stuttering is cause you ram is 1600mhz my ram is 4*4Gb running 2133. and if you can dig up those charts i would greatly love to read them. Also this is my first play through of the game and only a few hours into it.

and you pics look amazing. i'm still new to skyrim and the mods but im learning as i go.

Never use auto and also do NOT go above 1.5 unless you have a water set up and don't mind putting your chip at risk of dying.

The intel limits put it at 1.52 for allowed voltage. Above 1.47 on water is risky.
