Clean CPU and cooler before first use?

Hey!

I wonder if you guys clean your CPU and cooler fresh out of the box before their first assembly or if that is something you should only do when the thermal compound needs to be refreshed.

Cheers.

If the CPU cooler came with the base covered with a piece of plastic, then you don't have to clean it, unless you touched it or something.

If it came with thermal paste preapplied on it, then you can clean it and replace the TIM, but it doesn't really matter all that much.

Clean the CPU if it has ever had a cooler on it; if it's new, don't bother.
