Becuase Intel can spend millions on tv ads each year. AMD is catching on in the not-so-noob market of where people think they know a lot, but they don't.

ok but will your mother be buying a quad core system anytime soon? anyone who is willing to invest that kind of $ into a computer iether knows what they are talking about or it won't really matter because they won't know the difference and they shouldn't be spending that kind of money on a computer anyways

AMD will be producing 90 nm dual core processors... at 3 Ghz?, please that's not a challenge anymore... they're good at it by now. Intel's yeilds on the Core 2 Duo's and Quads can't be as good, regardless of what process they're on.
If yeilds are so good at 3GHz, why is AMD waiting until next summer to release its 3.2GHz FX-76? Theyre already behind, so why not jump the gun and make 3.2GHz part? Simple. The yeilds arent high enough. AMD is having enough trouble as it is trying to get 3GHz parts that run at that speed under a 125W TDP. Intel on the other hand has had great success with its 65nm process. They have said before that their 65nm process is getting better yeilds than its 90nm process. Ever wonder why you havent seen any Core2 based Celerons yet? Because the yeilds are too good and there arent enough defective parts to sell as low-end processors.

man wheres the horse .... there it is go kick it

j.k.

anyways when i first got into ocing and really building comps and stuff i didnt have a clue who amd was but then once i got into it there were these exact same conversions 6 yrs ago, atleast today more people have a clue who amd is but thats usually still limited to poeple buying comps or actually into them and even then alot of people buying a comp are like i want intel for no other reason then thats what they heard/know about

itll go back and forth and im sure intel will hold it for a little while then amd will come back and if not hopefully atleast offer some really good competition

3.2 Ghz FX-76? The FX-76 will be their first four core part. Intel's yields are not flawless.. Core 2 Solo anyone?

there is no argument there the people who do know what they are talking about will get the kentsfield BUT the people who don't and just have that kind of money to spend may not because they heard from a friend a couple of months ago that AMD pwns Intel.
