laptop and desktop curiousity

Thread Starter
i'm curious, since both the xp-m 2400+ and my xp 2500+ are socket a's, would the desktop cpu work on a laptop? i'm only asking out of curiousity since i have little to know experience with laptops. if it DID work, would it simply affect battery life or just not work altogether? thanks

don't you guys just love my questions?

it'll work, but laptop procs eat less power. thats why you see a lot of people take the laptop procs and use them to overclock. they require less voltage for higher speeds

yes, i know that, its just because i found an xp-m 2400+ laptop for pretty cheap ($499 canadian) and i got the idea that IF i were to buy it, i'd swap that xp-m into my desktop for this xp 2500 haha.. that way i could get a better OC.

the mobile processor lets the hardware change the multiplyer letting the CPU run at a lower clock rate saving battery life. if you put the desktop model into the laptop it would run at 1.8XXghz? all the time and eat up battery.
