Higher vcore means...... lower temperatures? What?

So, I did something stupid on my i7 3770K build.

After I already had a stable overclock, but I upgraded my motherboard's UEFI anyway, and had to redo all of my settings (good thing I wrote them down).

My overclock was no longer stable on my old settings, and I really didn't want to turn my offset any higher, so I tried to tweak some of my other settings... that's when things started to get weird.

I set the CPU Load-Line Calibration from Auto to Medium (50%), now, the vcore gets a bit higher than it used to (maxes out at 1.320, forgot where it maxed out before but it was somewhere in the 1.3X range, pretty sure it was below 1.320 however) and hits the max more often than normal.... but runs COOLER when the vcore is higher.

On Prime95 blend mode, while the CPU is at a vcore of 1.320 my cores are around 65C, give or take. When the vcore is in the 1.29X range, my core temps are around 78C-83C. All cores are at 100% load and at 4400mhz so it isn't throttling (the TJMax is 105C anyway)... according to Open Hardware Monitor at least.

I am hopelessly confused, why would it run cooler the higher the voltage it gets now?

that because LLC on auto gives you a regular or standard LLC usually so medium would be higher giving you more voltage.

Here's my best attempt at graphing it over a 9 or so hour period:

The black line is the vcore, and never went above 1.32 or below 1.29. As you can see, my core temps are around 75C while its at 1.3 or above, but as soon as it dips to 1.29 the cores spike to 80-85C. Also, while the vcore is at 1.3+ the voltages remain stable, but when it dips below 1.29 it keeps rapidly alternating between 1.29 and 1.31:

It's because the Vcore is dipping on a heavy load, which creates more heat because the CPU is drawing more current (which is what causes the Vcore drop). If it bothers you, you can increase the setting for LLC, which will keep the voltage from dopping as much under load. Then you can lower your voltage setting (since instead of inputting 1.32 and getting 1.29 at load, you'd be inputting 1.29 and still getting 1.29 at load).

What worries me is how hot Core #2 gets when I have LLC set to medium. in an 8-hour run of Prime95 at blend mode all the other cores reached a peak (though not sustained for too long) temp of 81C-84C, core2 hit 89C....

But ever since this UEFI update I can't seem to keep it stable with the LLC set to auto or normal.

It fairly common for there to be a temp split, although it's usually one colder core instead of one hotter core. 89C is a little in the high side, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. You are still comfortably under the throttle temp (105) and you won't see temps nearly that high in normal use.

HI,im trying to OC my core i5 2500k and LLC increases temperatures and total heat produced,so if u use high LLC u get more core temp,if u use regular,but higher Vcore u get lower temps.But i found,that everything exceeding 4,5Ghz frekvency on my chip isnt gonna be stable at all.My chip needs 1,376 Vcore (BIOS 1.360) to get stable on 4DIMMS memory sticks.I have ready tons of tutorials and everything,but neither VCCIO or PPL voltage helped,tested every single value on 4,7GHz and i cant be stable until a reach 1,465 Vcore.Thats kinda high,when some1 is able to do 5Ghz on this voltage.But my CPU is gonna boot even with 5.2GHz on 1,512Vcore(not stable ofc) and is able to boot and hold about 15 mins on 1,376Vcore 4,7Ghz.I tried even setting manualy VID raising Turbo Voltage,nothing happend.
