Upgrade Input - Page 2

As great as the 165 (use one myself 2.85ghz prime stable) they are not guaranteed and if he has little to no knowledge in overclocking or isn't interested in learning the 4400 X2 dual cores are great alternatives if you can find them, or try starting with a higher multi http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103584, or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103586 . they both have 2x1mb L2 cache and if overclocking is not your thing it at least gets you into the dual core arena and Opterons are built to last and you still can have a chance of getting a good stepping to play with later.

Well I can say this that as your System is pretty old by todays standards I doubt you could upgrade it ot a satisfactory manor.

As said the FX55 is Nice but is a Single Core and for the price of one of them you can get a Dual core Athlon or an Opteron.

If you're going to upgrade, i sugest a whole new pc.
It will last longer , and give you plus performance.

I think this system I have now will make a good home network storage server or something dont you think? I just hate to destroy one of the first computer's I built using all of my own money. *mopes*

But then again, I am addicted to performance...yet that comes with a big price tag. I think i'm looking at about $400 to upgrade my system...

Good thing christmas is right around the corner!!
