Exactly. Just look at Walmart. People don't care about where the sruff comes from, just so long as they can get it for cheap. Same with gasoline, food, almost anything.

The reality is that nVidia and Intel don't care about AMD or how they do things beyond the fact that they need AMD alive to keep the Federal Government off their backs so that they aren't declared a Monopoly. Intel and AMD couldn't care less about how AMD does stuff, because they both do a better job at it ... ie making money.

What!? Its been that since... Its these types of comments that make me question too many replies. If you (general term) expect to debate, at least know the companies you are talking about. How can one be taken serious if you dont even know the company name you are debating over. Next you wont even know terms, iv seen people mess up opsys whitch i thought obvious.

That's why I posted the stocks earlier.

I doubt NVIDIA wants to take a queue from AMD, unless they want to learn how to make their stock look like this:

People around here give AMD way too much credit, their GPU's may have superior compute power, but who cares, it's not like they have the software and partnerships that can put it to good use.

I heard talks of AMD working closely with Adobe for CS6. To this day, AMD cards aren't supported, so what exactly is that compute being used for besides BOINC?
http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html
Here you go:
http://www.nvidia.ca/docs/IO/122874/K20-and-K20X-application-performance-technical-brief.pdf

People also forget the favored card for apple, isnt that nvidia? Of course is is, as well as work stations. Why is that, maybe one company offers better options in the commercial world. The reason, from what i herd, they dont get consoles is a despute with ibm. If they dont see a reason to fix that then obviously they have no reason to be in consoles. It doesnt seem to hurt them either, as they are not in any financial debacle. Nvidia is doing real well, face it. I love amd as iv never owned intel but ill say nvidia has treated me extremely well and i expect that to continue without fail.

Relax, it was a joke about AMD being advanced.

Please, Intel and nVidia very much care about what AMD will do and for more reasons then the goverment. It is always better to know what your competition is doing and it only takes one really great product that they have no competition ready for things to turn around. That's the kind of attitude that people would have said of Microsoft about Apple, before Apple went and released the Ipod and totally reversed their fortunes. Not saying AMD has such a product, but I highly doubt Intel and nVidia "don't care" what AMD is doing. Though do they care enough to commit corporate espionage is entirely different story.

My graphics card is better than your graphics card because it's the one I prefer.

I win.

I don't understand why so many here are posting AMD's stock price, as if stock manipulation and fraud aren't pervasive and stocks are the end all and be all of a firm.

My one and only problem with AMD is that they don't provide driver support for their older chips. nVidia still provide support for their 8xxx and 9xxx series video cards, which are over 5 years old, but AMD don't provide support for their 4xxx series.
