I need help now that I've sprung for my new system. The old " Beast " was almost 4.5 years old, but it was near top of the line back in Summer of 2008. My sister needed new parts for the kids system, and I thought donating my bits would be the thing to do for Xmas.

So... I knuckled under, and ran online over the holidays with my laptop (will look into tweaking her later) and this is what I settled on:

Intel i5 3570k Quadcore 3.4 GHz CPU;
Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Motherboard, added WB300D manually (they were sold out of the package);
8Gb (2x 4Gb) of Patriot Viper 3 Mamba Black DDR3 1600MHz CL9 DIMMs;
Gigabyte nVidia GeForce GTX 650 w/ 2GB GDDR5;
Antec HCG-620M High Current Gamer 620W 80+ Certified Modular PSU
a GAUD T51 Surround Sound module (cute, good & on-sale!)

All that was new. It went into my Summer 2008 case, and the assorted drives I purchased along the way:

Antec Sonata III 500 (the 500watt PSU went into the munchkin's system)
TSSTcorp CD/DVD SH-S223F CD/DVD drive (LG branded)
250Gb WDC WD2500JS-55NCB1 (SATA) (its a WD Black)
2 Tb WDC WD20EARS-00J2GB0 (SATA) (the terabytes are WD Greens)

plus my WD Elements Portable 1Tb drive, and a few sub-Gb ones in USB cases.

I also had to buy a USB Kybd & mouse (Canada Computers iCan brand - $8 on sale) to get the system up, as it wouldn't see my Logitech Unifying Rx, with the K800 Illuminated Kybd & MX Perfomance mouse (both well worth the $ a few years back)

Now, I'm looking at tweaking the system: streamlining Windows 7 Home Premium x64... and pushing the CPU, board, RAM and Video to the upper limits without cooking them off.

Anyone with some of these parts that can assist me? I'm a novice at this, but I am an ex-tech, and used to BIOS-edit with OnTrack Disk Manager s/w in the old days... so I'm not a noob.

( and please, how did I do for mating decent stuff up? )
(have since added them to my profile system list - will run the 'profiler' and benchs later)
