Phenom II X4 965 BE memory question

Hello all, new to the Overclock.net forum.

Ill get straight to business, this is my build I put together about 6 months ago, do note that I was on a budget at the time, which is why I'm using an older CPU and motherboard until I upgrade.

Antec DF-85 chassis
Asus M4A77T/USB3 motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
8 GB (2x4GB sticks) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Fermi
RoseWill Hive 750W PSU
WD 500GB SATA2 32M cache HDD

I am fairly out of game with overclock knowledge, but from my research from the link below (and I wish I would have read this before making a decision with my CPU/RAM purchase) the 965 BE will only run memory at 1333 speeds, which means my memory isnt being used to its full potential.

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ddr3memoryfrequencyguide.aspx

Now my question is, is that if I force my mobo to run the memory at 1600 speeds, since the 965's memory controller only goes to 1333, is this going to cause any problems, or can the CPU even work with this at all? I'm just wanting to get the most out of what I have already invested in my PC so far until I upgrade (on a side note, is the Vishera 4Ghz 8 core worth the $ or is there a better route to go? I already know my socket does not support it, so the mobo will be changed as well).

Before anyone mentions to bump up the CPU O/C while I'm at it, I'm still on the stock cooler and dont really want to push anything too far.

Thanks in advance!

-B.

If your ram is 1600 you shouldn't have any problem.

If you board wasn't to accept 1600MHz (the 4 I had do) you can always lower the timmings to get similar performance.

The board supports 1800 mhz O/C, so if what you are saying is true then the memory controller shouldnt "freak out" so to speak?

decrease the ram timings,no overclocking needed...AMD systems benefit more from tighter timings.

As much as I would like to delve into that, I really know nothing about latency or timings. I'm pretty hardware informed, but its the details and fine tuning that I'm new with.

Don't take it the wrong way, I do appreciate any feedback I get.

How to lower ram timings: lower the 4 settings cL,trcd, trp, tras) 1 setting at a time.one notch at a time .lower it..reboot..see if post..lower 1 more..reboot..etc..until you don't POST..then go back to the last one that worked...and move on to the next setting. This will put you close to where you should be.

Oh..and as a general rule..Don't get too crazy on lowering TRAS..It's usually the sum of other 3,sometimes 1-3 less.

There should be no problem with a C3 rev Phenom II and DDR3-1600 with 2-4 DIMMs. You may need to raise the CPU-NB voltage, plus I recommend a minimum CPU-NB overclock to 2400Mhz.
