[Comogam] PS4 To Be 50% More Powerful Than XBOX 720 - Page 15

If true, this means that the PS4 will have a 50% “raw, computational power advantage” over Microsoft’s next console.

remember the ps3 had the computational advantage over the 360 as well but we all know how that turned out for Sony. it doesnt matter even if the ps4 is 10 times more powerful or has 10 times better features than next xbox , if it isn't priced right or the developers face the same problem of coding for ps4 as the ps3 had then sony is doomed. and ofcourse ps4 needs to have some games too
so easy to code, lots of games and good price are what will matter not the power

who cares what everyone in the world think. gaming in japan is still big and there's a lot of games I've played that are really good (they don't even bother subbing/dubbing it to english anymore I'm genuinely happy I know the language) japanese gaming will survive without the world and just within the country they're making money. most japanese games that are targeted internationally are dumbed down anyway . just my 2 cents

No matter how you look at it, Nintendo dominated MS and Sony in the ways that matter.

Out sold consoles. Yes
Sold more games. No, they may have sold more first party titles but add in the massive amount of first and third party titles on the 360 and that number changes dramatically. And that is not counting the online sales, which probably make up a vary large part of the cash flow. These days especially, online sales are higher then ever and xbox live has a vary big lead over the competitors in this factor. The money made from retail isn't all that great, to much overhead and not enough revenue. Online on the other hand has way more revenue involved, and sadly the online sales from the wii is a joke.

Nintendo did what they had to to get out of a rut, but the wii was never really marketed as a cash cow. Console profits were only marginal as they sold the console for pretty cheap, and to expect a lot back from a console sale is crazy. Software sales where mostly only good for the games they made, pretty much all the crap games that found its way onto the ps2 moved over to the wii and pretty much gave 3rd party titles that lacking mentality. Nothing against Nintendo but MS turned the 360 into a better money making machine. Why? Better 3rd party sales and way better online sales, the 360's online market will continue to grow and make it steady cash flow, wii does not have a steady cash flow it had a cash bobble for a short time but that has long been popped. 360 Dominance in the Major gaming markets have pretty much proven this anyways.

As someone that used to be a console-only gamer, my eyes were also opened: I can play and enjoy both! Between my PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U, I have about 40 games that you won't find on PC. Throw handhelds into the mix and that number skyrockets to a staggering 65+ games. On top of that, I don't even own all of the consoles games I'd like from this generation. Try half, at best.

On PC, I've bought maybe 20 current generation games, and most of them aren't exclusives. PC exclusives just don't do it for me, but I usually opt to get multiplatform games on PC, especially shooters.

As far as I'm concerned, there are tons of amazing games no matter where you go, and anyone skipping either PC or consoles are really missing out.

Definitely, there's not much reason not to go Handheld...The emulators are crap for the current generation, and quite a few games are very fun.

Even for normal consoles, my 360 sees quite a bit of use...Some games just work better with a controller (eg. Racing, fighting games) than a keyboard and mouse.

Did you even read what I said? Nintendo outsold Microsoft in games too. They sold 32.44 million copies of Mario Kart Wii, a non-pack in game for the most part...MS' best seller was Kinect Adventures (Bundled with Kinect) and Halo 3 only sold 8.1 million copies in a year or so, there's not many games that have gotten above 10 million total game sales but Nintendo's biggest seller has outsold MS' biggest seller that I can find by over 3 times, while I wouldn't be surprised if MS had sold a higher quantity of games total I wouldn't be surprised if they made much less money overall..Which is what really matters.

I gave up on console's when RROD and YLOD came to light (no pun intended).

Cheap hardware priced at a premium, locked down to regions\no mods or customization of games (would have made more money if all games were available in all regions and full modding tools), over priced hdd's (360) and letting the game industry stagnate for 10 years i.e. crappy console ports for pc (looking at you Crysis 2 and GTA 4)

These consoles NEED to take a risk and really push for the BIG performance\graphics\gameplay boost that EVERYONE is looking towards.

Meanwhile I'll keep playing my PC.

I'm yet to get RRoD on any of my 3 Xbox's, one died from user error and I sold the second one..The third one (Slim model that came with Kinect) works fine.

If this is true then good news, first party PS4 titles or PS4 exclusives will look great. I somehow doubt this is true though, simply because Sony isn't doing so well financially, if they put such beefy hardware in the PS4 they'll either have to take a loss on each unit sold, or price it at $600 again.

Yet some one will toss 600 bucks to get a ipad rolleyes.gif

It's a new console 450-600 bucks should be standard for higher spec high HDD capacity consoles.

I used to be a console-only gamer, but then my eyes were opened. I'm sorry, but, there are few titles even worth getting for the Console, and most of them aren't on PC.

Unfortunately pc is missing good JRPG's / Fighting games, only reason i got myself a console. Just for comparison - last decent JRPG on pc came out on 2008 mad.gif Last Remnant and it was so much better on it than xbox , it was quite laggy on box actually too.

Like I said, the only good games that consoles have are the ones that really aren't available on PC. Fighting games, RPGs, and some of the smaller games that are only on a download basis and exclusive to the console. That being said, I don't hate consoles. I love my PS3, I just think if they are going to try and compete with PC's, they need to have extremely powerful hardware. But, that would push the cost to nearly 1K if they did.
