[Comogam] PS4 To Be 50% More Powerful Than XBOX 720 - Page 16

like always I'm gonna stick with gaming pc AND next gen consoles like I always do. It's always been a mystery to me why there's always a pc vs. consoles camp. both are good in my eyes. why limit yourself with one playform anyway. I never miss out on any games exclusives or not

I can see from a cost perspective, or even space. I've owned every major console since the 8-bit era and picked up PC gaming in 2005 and not only is my wallet crying trying to buy games for everything, but I've got a dozen consoles hooked up to multiple TVs and miles of cables run about, with handhelds on every desk.

I somehow manage though, and would never willingly skip over any platform.

So you mean you currently own a Wii, PS3 & XBOX 360???

Yep, as well as a Wii U.

My consoles, including those four:

PSP
PS2
PSone
3DS
GBA SP
N64
SNES
NES
Dreamcast
Genesis

So, not quite every major console. I'm missing everything Atari, the SMS, Game Gear and Saturn, Neo Geo, etc. I had to draw the line somewhere though. tongue.gif

Again Sony is misguided. Xbox isn't great because of the games alone, no, its great because of strong and consistent online experience coupled with some great games. PS3 was great and for SP it had better games, but the online component was ruled by Xbox and thats what made it better IMO for gaming, as online play is becoming a much bigger aspect of a game than SP. thumb.gif

I'm surprised there are still working PS 1's out there. Personally I have had 3 PS1's starting with the original model that hooked up with a coaxial instead of composite. All dead one after the other. When my PS 2 started acting up with disk read errors well that's when I had had just about enough of consoles.

Edit: Actually I'm remembering wrong. I had 2 PS1's as the first one was repaired one time redface.gif

This is the old axiom revised.. Just because something worked FOR YOU doesn't mean it there weren't widespread problems.

Brutuz is right. The wii won in all the ways that mattered. The only issue the console had was staying power as the 360 is about to pass it in NA and both the 360/PS3 may pass it world wide although that's still a long shot at this point.

That's not even the biggest story though. The failure of the PS3 despite it's amazing first-party library has got to be the biggest surprise. And please make no mistake the system was a failure despite it's recent turn around. Heck the PS3 may end up being the world-wide best selling console including the Wii in a few years and it will still be a failure. It simply lost Sony too much money and marketshare especially to Microsoft. Nintendo kind of branched out and did their own thing.

PS3 a failure? Madness. If anything its a success story of how you can basically have no momentum and completely turn it around. I would say the only thing PS3 really failed on is in the North American market, and really it's not even that big of a failure.

It's bad to fragment your playerbase, and you can't have it both ways like you're stating. You either get games programmed direct to a specific set of hardware or you get a less optimized version that can be played with various hardware, often with issues.

Not to mention any upgrade/add-ons to consoles in the past have gone over like a lead zeppelin...

yeah i've heard this argument before, I think the market is mature enough now to handle it. I won't even remotely consider buying the steambox, or any console for that matter, unless it has "some" path for upgradeing. Don't want it to be like a PC where there's multiple cards available, but a standardized upagrade path or no sale from me....I'll just stick with the PC. Also, if Crytek comes out and says crysis 3 will run on this thing all maxxed out I'm sold as well.
