Compared to Akira Mori. Heck yes. Compared to almost any business or government person yes he's frowned upon. Remember, I qualified my statement by saying "Generally Speaking." Are there gamers in Japan that worship Daigo? Yes. Is gaming considered to be mainstream like it is here in the United States? Absolutely not.

This is the old axiom revised.. Just because something worked FOR YOU doesn't mean it there weren't widespread problems.

It can be reversed for you, too. There were a lot of RRoDs but if you waited for the fully 65nm consoles, you only had the E75 error with those mainly iirc, especially if you have your 360 on its side so the DVD player is flat. (The main vent in has been covered if you're running it vertically)

The first two models of 360 were badly designed and did get it (The launch model and the 65nm CPU model, which improved but didn't fix the issue) but for at least 3-4 years now you've been mostly safe if you buy new and take good care of the console.

That's not even the biggest story though. The failure of the PS3 despite it's amazing first-party library has got to be the biggest surprise. And please make no mistake the system was a failure despite it's recent turn around. Heck the PS3 may end up being the world-wide best selling console including the Wii in a few years and it will still be a failure. It simply lost Sony too much money and marketshare especially to Microsoft. Nintendo kind of branched out and did their own thing.

At this point it really doesn't matter, much like how Sony didn't really care about the PS2 slowly losing marketshare...It's the last generation now.

The launch was a failure in all regards, and they spent the rest of the generation recovering from that pretty much.

final fantasy 4-5-6-7-8-9-10-12(it was not that bad)
shadow hearts series
shadow of the colossus
kingdom hearts series
god of war series

..................etc etc erc

do you see where i come from? and this is only a tiny bit of games and for 1 system, all new gen have terrible games and almost no JRPG not sure why people say market is low its only low because they stop making thema nd are catering to the mass of casual gamers who only play shooters and the same dam things over and over rehash. I am not the only one who thinks this, they made new consoles as "entertainment systems" where people even buy it just for blue ray players/kinec/etc. and not as a "gaming system" .

its a shame i grew up playing a ton of awesome games but the gaming world is becoming worst as the years go on by.

honestly ps3 itself has only 2-3 games id love to play including the castlevania series

I am more worried about the controller than the internal hardware, I think.

I'd love to see some precise controller. But I don't know what kind of black magic would be needed for that.

If they could come up with analog sticks that are more precise, that'd be great.

Of course mouse and keyboard support is ideal. But the truth is that I play on my TV, which is in my bedroom, so I play on my bed, always have since my first console.
So mouse and keyboard is a little uncomfortable. And I'll still be playing fps multiplayer games on the PC.

But an imprecise controller is a pain, even on single player games.

I'll probably buy the PS4 1 year after release, or the second revision, or when Metal Gear comes out biggrin.gif

I still love the exclusives.

Xbox is always king no matter what smile.gif

Xbox is like Apple and PlayStation is like Samsung at this game, it used to be the other way around but it's turned around since 2009 especially with Xbox 360 undercutting PS3 with the prices, nobody will really care if long-term they save money with PSN over Xbox LIVE.

Plus content providers release on XBL first over PSN.

It won't matter how much more powerful the PS4 is either if it's a lot more complicated to develop for, like how it was with the PS3. Devs will just develop for Xbox and port to PS4 and PC, if that's how it turns out to be, again.

All just speculation though.

Momentum? The PS3 came out almost a full year later than the 360.. and when it did arrive it was $550 compared to $400 for the Xbox. Even with the price gap and the full year headstart the 360 had the PS3 still managed to finish with more sales.

That's hardly a "failure in every sense of the word".

The first two models of 360 were badly designed and did get it (The launch model and the 65nm CPU model, which improved but didn't fix the issue) but for at least 3-4 years now you've been mostly safe if you buy new and take good care of the console.

The Jasper revision reduced the likelihood of the RRoD but it was released 3 years after launch and it still didn't fix the problem. Although it wasn't a frequent something about the build (I think it was inadequate exhaust - I can't remember off the top of my head) still caused problems.

Anyways, you were reasonable enough to admit the first 2 models were badly design, so we really don't disagree on anything.

That's hardly a "failure in every sense of the word".

They said the PS3 made more shipments than the Xbox 360 not sell.

I don't consider it a failure but in some sense when I'm using it, it doesn't feel like a true successor the PS2 at all, I feel like too many corners were cut and many of the games I get on PS3 I get ****ed over on vs getting it on Xbox 360 where developers always support first. I always hear games on PS3 running at lower resolution than their Xbox counterparts, only some of the DLCs that come to Xbox making it to the PSN Store, and no multiple user log in was kind of a bummer also. Back in 2008, PS3's interface looked better than Xbox 360 (heck not even "2008" just the early half of it before the came out with NXE) but after NXE, Xbox just had a much "funner" interface to play with, XMB just looks so boring to me now.

This is all just MY opinion by the way. I still love PS3 and Xbox 360, they both have their differences. In the end all I care about is PC Gaming tongue.gif

And their latest attempt at re-releasing the PS3 was such a cheap shot at aiming for consumer's pockets.
