Yes the designers may care about power draw, but it all depends on what solution they are going with. PS4 might be bigger than 720 and could therefor use hotter GPU.

Gamers don`t give a flying F about power consumption. You won`t find anyone concerned about that, other than fanboys with no life trying to find excuses for why Console A is better than Console B etc etc.

For heat reasons yes, Power usage will be moot for most people.
You will save more money getting rid of any incandescent bulb in your house then to shave a few watts off a console. Plus electricity is cheap tongue.gif
Just be glad it doesn't run on natural gas.

They claimed crap like this about the 360/PS3 too. The PS3 was called a "Super Computer" for having the Cell Processor, but in their own papers they compared it against the Pentium 4. Their comparisons were against a fully functional Cell with 8 SPUs, and the PS3 has one disabled and one resereved for the XMB.

Yeah the Microsoft fan boys seem to conveniently forget that the PS1 utterly destroyed the competition, and that was Sony's first system. They continued that with the PS2. Even though the PS3 has been more expensive, they have kept toe to toe with the 360, and even beat it in many areas of the world. And people forget the Wii sold more systems than either the PS3 or 360 did, in pretty much every country in the world. I doubt the Wii-U is going to be even close to as popular.

both sony and microsoft are paying people to talk up their "rumored" performance. We do this every single time, I'm so sick of it. This is exactly why I want the steambox to come out...start bringing gamers together instead of this divided market between bull****ting corporate giants.

What is interesting about these power comparison is that the average gamer, the one that doesn't do a lot of research beyond what titles are available, will not care. The comparisons only matter to the hardcore gamer, which isn't the sector that makes Sony or Microsoft the most money. The main thing that sells these consoles are the titles they come with or the ones that will be upcoming. It will be cool if either of these two systems will be able to do some Folding but that remains to be seen.

I for one, will not be buying either. I will stick to my computer that I built and that I can customize as much as I want which is much better then anything Sony or Microsoft can put out.
