To gain that amount of market share when your competitors are already established, and to now be considered one of the "big three" after just two consoles, is noteworthy at best. Even more so considering that they have managed to sell almost a million on Black Friday, at the end of its life cycle. I am loyal to the Xbox brand, because I think it offers a better experience, and that long term, the experience will change many times through innovation over its life. (Kinect, dashboard, indie games, xbla, YouTube, Netflix, bing voice search, Xbox smart glass, etc etc etc) there's just more to do on xbox.
Microsoft may have entered the console market and become a key company with just 2 consoles but Sony did it in a single generation and single handedly turned the console market into a multi billion dollar industry with the PS1.... Console gaming would not be where it is today without the release of that little grey box.
Sony also have bumbled up so hard after the PS2, and care less about the consumer than MS. (eg. Rootkit DRM, closing stores selling PSPs early to other countries, lack of security on credit card numbers, etc)

What does this even mean?
Microsoft force developers to charge for updates that add content to games, that's why TF2 is vanilla on it.
