Furthermore, how does anyone know if the "720" will be the weaker console? It's like its been written off already. If its easier to program for, it will be better optimized than the PS4. Sony could be claiming "mad crazy specs yo" just because they are losing money like crazy, and trying to gain momentum. Who knows until they release?

Both systems should be the same far as programming difficulty goes.

Yeah but The new xbox will have Hardware AA pretty much, Personally console games need AA more then anything. The two biggest problems with current console games are not the graphics but the lack of AA to make the graphics look sharp. Also the Lack of memory really make textures look ugly. Toss in High Rez textures and AA and even games pushing the same polygon count as the 360 will still look great.

The biggest problem I had playing the last uncharted game was the lack of AA IMO. Loved the second one, but with so much PC time in between the releases It was hard for me to play another game on that console. Another reason why the 360 tends to be the better console is because more games use AA on it.

I believe that running in native 1080p will somewhat alleviate the need for anti-aliasing. You need lots of anti-aliasing to make 720p look as good as 1080p, which I think needs more computational power than going from 720p to 1080p.

Also high AA at 720p will just look blurred anyway.

And 50% harder to code for? This is probably most developers concerns when they get their dev kits.
Hopefully Sony come back big style with the PS4. I have owned all their home consoles but I was not gone on the PS3. 50% more powerful means nothing when we have no idea what specs the next xbox will have anyway.

No. Both will be x86 CPUs. Both will be AMD CPUs and GPUs (or APUs) I think.

Isn't the PS3 "technically" more powerful than a Xbox 360 as well? but the CELL processor just wasn't good for the job they tried to use it for. So until the two consoles are released and we can actually see them...I don't think this is even worth looking at. Raw number crunching power means nothing if it can't be utilized well.

I swear every time they release a new console it is always more powerful then "x". But it never manages to do it. PS3 was suppose to be more powerful then any gaming system for "x" number of years down the road, but lets face it, most games just look awful on it. xbox was suppose to be x amount better then pc's, but it looks terrible.

Every cycle it is the same thing, and ever cycle they just make up numbers to sell the product.

That's speculation and it definitely won't be x86 just because its AMD does not mean it will exclusively be x86.
