[Comogam] PS4 To Be 50% More Powerful Than XBOX 720 - Page 24

This started back with the Dreamcast. They saturated the market with claims of how much more powerful the ps2 was going to be than the DC and strongarmed 3rd party devs that if they made games for the DC they would lose the liscense with Sony. Only the biggest studio's were able to withstand that leverage. Sony, and Microsoft cause they're guilty of similiar ****, are distortions of capitalism.

That would be hard to believe since it would break backward compatibility with PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Also using x86 architecture, technically that would mean the game would be easier to emulate on PC and you'd basically be developing for a PC instead of a console which historically normally used stripped down architecture to get the job done.

I think last gen showed us how much Micro and Sony truely care about BWC. PS3 was supposed to launch fully BWC, then it was partial, then it was 0 because they could sell you the games again on PSN and make more money.

The PS3 broke compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games...or for the most part at least. I've been told the early model that came with the 60GB hard drive had about a 80% compatibility rate with old games, but the newer models were nearly none.

So backward compatibility isn't too important to them.

A mid-range gaming PC isn't exactly expensive or even that "good". We're kind of expecting something decent. When the '360 came out, it was (at least technically) a pretty good piece of hardware. Right now, even the "insane" rumors are still junk when compared to a half-decent PC.

UPDATE: VG247 has just revealed a report of a source that has revealed to the site that the PS4 is in fact more powerful than the Xbox 720. Here the source claims the PS4 will be capable of 1.82TFlops while the Xbox 720 is capable of only 1.23 TFlops.

I repeat the specs again:

PS4: Downclocked/modified 7870, 8 core Jaguar CPU, 4GB GDDR5
Xbox: Downclocked/modiefied 7770, 8 core Jaguar CPU, 8GB DDR3
