Wish DOTA 2 had better spell effects and more modes. The game looks great otherwise.
But as a long time HoN player, spell effects in DOTA 2 look non existent. I just can't seem to see what spells are being cast, the effects seem tuned down a lot.
Then the absence of casual mode and mid wars is a huge turnoff for me. I hate normal mode, it's just too slow and people are too cowardly and passive. I prefer more action.

Oh man if there's anything I love more about DOTA 2 than HoN, it's the spell effects/animations. HoN's spells/animations, even hero models are WAY too obnoxious, like, seriously. I played HoN for about a year or so and then switched over to DOTA 2 and that was one of the first things I noticed as well and I fell in love with it.
In my opinion, Dota 2 is a lot more, 'classy' I guess you could say, in terms of their spells/animations and hero models.

They do need to expand upon the eye candy options I mean for AA settings you get to decide it its on or off....... no x2/x4 etc.

Really? What will happen when there is a 5 vs 5 battle. I have not played Hon but if Dota 2 had more effect it would be a mess. Sometimes i lose my char from spell effects.

I have no issues with HoN animations or graphics. DOTA 2 looks better as I said, but the spell effects are very weak in my eyes. That coupled with only normal mode is a major turn off for me.

That what i absolutely hated about hon. Extremely dark background with super shiny spells. You got completely blinded when spells were casted.
