Looking to get a tablet for gaming around July. Possible options?

Thread Starter
I know this is quite a few months away but based on trends will there be many options for any "gaming" tablets by July.

The sort of games I would be thinking of would be like Dota 2, team fortress 2, and starcraft 2.
The only option I really see on the market that is in my price range is the new surface pro. I also heard that steam has talked about wanting to port some of their games to android and ios?

You're not gonna be able to play those games on a tablet without a dedicated gpu very well. The surface pro has the HD4000 integrated but that won't be very good if you want a smoothe experience. Dota and tf maybe, but SC2 even on low in a good battle will tax the HD4000 pretty hard. Tbh, I think that new Razer Edge is the only one coming out that will be decent to game on. I don't think it's worth it personally. You're better off finding an AMD Trinity APU ultrabook or something tbh.

I'm kind of wondering about that StarCraft 2 comment. From what I understand, Blizzard is better than most at optimizing their games. I actually managed to play it pretty decently on a laptop that I don't think even had a dedicated GPU; and this was at least a year back, the laptop possibly older than that.

The Intel 4000 has made some good advances, so for a point of comparison, I found this:

If you browse around for some other videos, TF2 is at 60fps. I may actually wait to see what people say about the Surface Pro when it comes out, though; it's entirely possible something about squeezing it all together reduces it.
