[Engadget] PSA: Windows 8 and Pro upgrades will jump to $120 and $200 on February 1st

"After the switchover, you'll pay $200 for a Pro upgrade, a standard edition of Windows 8 will run you $120"
Quote:
This should come as no surprise -- we reported the increase back in October -- but Windows 8 upgrades will become a bit more pricey come February 1st. That means you have the better part of two weeks to take advantage of introductory online upgrade pricing of $40 (for the Pro version), before the sticker jumps to 200 bucks.

That is a crazy price for a upgrade if your running Windows 7 already.

I was hesitant to pay £15 for an upgrade, so Microsoft are definitely going to discourage people from upgrading by raising the price this much.

Well when the demand for it is so high, it can't be bad for MS to do this.

Same here. I plan to skip W8 all together. I hope W9 will be more to my liking.

This is what windows used to cost so it's not outrageous... but I honestly don't see them selling as many at that price point. Although they don't really need to sell as many since it's so much more tongue.gif.

If people are liking it when it's priced as low as it is now, how is raising the price to rediculous levels going to make anyone like it?
Everyone who was not interested before will definately not want it now.
