Pretty much this. Only reason it's selling well is because of the $15-40 upgrade cost, once it hits the new price expect sales to flat line. Heck I have access to free copies on technet and I just don't care for the OS to bother installing it.

There's honestly nothing wrong with Windows 8, it was worth upgrading to for $15 just for the quicker boot time. I'm not biased since I have an SSD and decided to stick with Windows 7. I would not pay over $50 for this edition of Window though, it's nothing special... Windows 7 with a few kernel upgrades and a universal interface geared towards touch screens.

Stick a fork in it, it's done.

But then again, this is hardly unexpected, Microsoft had announced when the introductory prices would end at launch. That's why earlier sales were so high (as low as they were), because after the introductory price, it is doubtful that many people will bother with it.

lol, it's to hope that a price increase would increase their profit margin tongue.gif. Though this is such a silly move by Microsoft.

LOL at Win 8...
All they had to do was give people back the start menu... Linux market share about to go up.

Ubuntu now has
Phone
Steam
Netflix

lol and MS wants 120 for 8 BAHAHA

Yes, and keep running Windows 7 and Linux ... just like I am now.

Given that major titles that are JUST being released with DirectX9.0c ... it will be a LONG TIME from now before anything worth a dang is released that REQUIRE something like DirectX 12 (or what ever MS does that isn't going to be supported by Windows 7 ... since they caved in and made the DirectX 11.1 changes that WERE supposed to be Windows 8 only, but now ARE supported by Windows 7).

I get mine for free through MSDNAA, even though I'm no longer a student XD. But either way I definitely wouldn't pay that much for W8. W9, maybe.

There will be a start menu (by default) for windows 8 in about 6 months. So windows 9 should have one built in.
