"sorry to break it to you"
Really? maybe because it hasn't been released yet rolleyes.gif
As for Steam and Netflix, well steam is in beta and netflix for linux was like what, a month ago?

Ubuntu was a PITA not long ago, but if you cant see that Linux is a threat for Microsoft in the near future, (especially at the current rate MS is going) then you need to take a step back and reevaluate your opinion. With Ubuntu now switching from desktop to phone seamlessly, and doing everything MS does, Games included, with no cost... Yeah that's pretty cool.

Thought it was best to buy a CD key while they are still cheap, Hopefully 9 will have a upgrade from 8 in the same way,

Folks, if you have nothing constructive to say then please don't bother responding. Opinions are welcomed provided they are constructive.

What defines a constructive opinion?

Is it just me, or have the days of $200 operating systems, or software in general, long passed?
Windows has always been prohibitively expensive for me.....Windows 8 is the first time I actually spent money on an OS.

I'm sure that holds true for quite a few people, and I'm sure Microsoft didn't explode all those times previously either because of it.

Then there's the fact that people seem to have forgotten that selling OS's directly to consumers is not how Microsoft make the bulk of their money. The OEMs make the sales.

Sure they can sell it cheap to consumers, but that's not in theirs or their OEMs best interests. Lest they have people prefer spending £15-£40 on a software upgrade instead of buying new PCs.

There is no current method of pirating 8, you'd have to wait and hope a KMS server was compromised and even then MS can close that down rather quickly.

It was well publicised that there was a loop hole using WMC to gain a free legit key, anyone that was too tight for £15 could have got it then
