Seriously? Are you forgetting about cost? Not everyone is able to shell out $1500 for a hardc0re l33t g@ming r1g complete with 700mm blue LED fans, so what makes you think that the average consumer will be willing to pay anything over $400 for a console? Especially since games still cost $60, and used games are now becoming unsupported.

I'm sure you'd all love for the PS4 to have 32gb of ram, a 7970, and a 1tb SSD for the price of a nice dinner, but it's not happening. The Xbox 720 and PS4 will be nearly equal to the Wii U.

From what I've seen the WiiU isnt even that far ahead of the PS3 or X360 if at all. (Wow, looks like I am not the only one that disagreed with your comments)

While not everyone would pay $400+ for a console, plenty of people will still buy it. The PS3 launched at nearly $600 and that didn't stop everyone, myself included, from buying.

This would be quite good for amd. Both consoles using amd chips, and the 7970m is no slouch as far as mobile gpus go.
There's no reason to have THAT much Vram on a laptop-level GPU. 2GB is plenty for the current 7970M models and even they don't max out with the current DX11 titles.

Also, I highly doubt that the GPU will be a 7970M. It'll probably be something lesser, or a biiit more toned down if it IS that GPU. tongue.gif

Why 4GB of RAM? Sounds too low for me.

This! It'll be just a task of loading the BIOS, the OS, and emulating a virtual machine with said hardware biggrin.gif

It ain't that easy their is Sega arcade machines that are purely PC based and still have not been cracked or emulated.

Sounds too high for me. Ram's utilisation in a console is not the same for a pc. Your pc has to run a big os (windows) and a lot of programs. a console only has their tiny os to run and the game. Next gen consoles will have 2-4 gb ram.

And for the 7970m, it's really unlikely, Sony shoot themself in the foot in the beginning with the 600$ ps3. Sony's future lies in the next ps4, if they deliver a way too pricey console and cant get enough sales (like the vita even tought the console is amazing specs wise) sony's stocks will go down a lot and they dont want this in their financial situation.

IMO, they will target a max 500$ or they will sell a high end console at a loss. if they release killing games like uncharted 4, a msg or other good game, they might have a chance

Short story:
- Eight Core CPU (Codename: Jaguar)
- 4GB GDDR5 Memory (Yes GDDR)
- GPU: 7970M (Pretty much a GTX 570)

This is going to be one sick machine!

Long story (Interesting) read:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-orbis-unmasked-what-to-expect-from-next-gen-console

Don't believe it, it's more likely gonna be a triple or quad core cpu @1.2-1.6GHz and something close to a HD7770. Anything higher than that and it'll cost way to much for consumers.

I doubt these specs. Next gen consoles won't be above 500 when they come out. Sony learned the hard way not to do that.

So has anyone here even played a Wii U

Or are you all just convinced that clock speed is the end all be all of how powerful a device is?

In that case, I'll be sure to switch out my 2.8ghz i5 for a 3.8ghz Pentium 4...it's a whole 1ghz faster!

This sounds impossible. A GPU like that will make the console itself very costly which is not an affordable console at all.
