Its ok. Annoyed with the fact if i put 2 fans on 1 header it beeps every few mins.. atm i removed the splitters using all 6 channels and no beep. I heard snipping the yellow wire will stop it from beeping but I dont want to wreck a fan

It beeps because you are sending two rpm wires to the same channel. So the Lamptron doesn't know what's going on and goes bezerk. You don't have to snip any wires, you just have to remove the yellow wire pin from the male connector on one of your fans. That can be put back in later if you so choose to need it again.

Oh is that all it is.. common issue with fan controls or just lamptron? I went with laptron cause of 30w per channel 2 fans = 23 ish watts at full
post #34 of 58
I dont know which fans you are using but no way they are rated at 11 watts each, running or starting.

Maybe they are 2 watts running each. So you can put way more than just two on a single channel.

My guess is to get the number 23, you probably saw 11.5 or 12 on fan box. That is the voltage, not the wattage. Most everything inside your computer run on 12 volts as that is what your PSU supplies.
To figure out the wattage, you have to find out what the amperage is and multiply that by 12 volts. For example my AP-45 fans are rated at 0.123 amps. Multiply that by 12 volts and you have the wattage, 1.5 watts.

I could theorically run close to 20 AP-45 fans on a single 30w channel.

Mind you, with the Lamptron, that 30 watts per channel is running watts. With an undervolting controller, like the Bitfenix, you need to calculate your starting wattage, which is usually 2 to 4 times more than running wattage.

And yup that yellow wire on your fans is just an rpm reporting wire. It tells your controller or mobo how fast the fan is spinning. Ifyou feed two or more of them to a single channel, the unit won't understand what the @#%(?@ is going on.

Hmm what i read my fans are 0.8 amps.. i guess im wrong.

XSPC 1650's are the fans
0.8 amps is a lot. That translates to about 10 watts. That would have to be starting watts, not running watts.

My bad. Miss reading n stuff sorry
That's much better. Comes to 2.16 watts. You can easily put a whole quad rad in push/pull on a single Lamptron channel.

If the starting watts worry you, then only put 4 fans per channel but I don't think starting watts are a concern with the Lamptron because it's not an undervolter, it uses power modulation instead.
