Issues folding, unstable OC? Need help!

Hi all

Recently overclocked my 3770k to 5ghz, did a 12 hour prime95 pass. Ive overclocked my ram to 2133mhz 9-10-10-28, but I havent tested the ram its just how I always ran them prior to getting the 3770k.

Im using linux to fold, got 8028 work units. My TPF is 60 seconds, which seems slow to me considering a 4.6ghz 3770k can get TPF of 54 seconds, whereas my overclock is 400mhz higher? My temps monitoring on linux also only shows my cpu as running at 50C, I know my cpu cooler isnt THAT good.

Whats the idea?

ok somethings definitely up, I changed from memory from 2133mhz 9-10-10-28 to 1600mhz 11-11-11-28 and it made NO difference to my TPF at all, not even a second faster or slower.

What gives?!

That's a little weird, my 3770k at 4.4GHz gets a TPF of 50 seconds on the 8028.

Could be caused by instability, try lowering the CPU overclock a little.

Also the 8028 Work Units are Uniprocessor, not SMP if that makes any difference at all.

Oh and what Kremtok asked. We need more info!

I'm assuming you have speedstep disabled. If not, maybe Linux is throttling the cpu. You could install i7z and see what it's running at

Thanks guys, erm r rest of my system is my SIG just a 3770k instead.

I think its Ubuntu 12.10 and v7 client

I ran p95 though on my dual boot of windows at 5 GHz for 12 he's and it passed, I dontnbget how it can be unstable?

Ram timings and speed really don't help with A4 units but did make a significant difference on a3 units

60 seconds is really slow for a 3770k in Linux, my 3570k at 4.9 gets 56 second tpf on 8028s in Linux. Are you sure its folding on all 8 threads? With temps that low and that slow tpf, it doesn't seem like it

Hmm... will have to get back to you on this one.

And it was just a thought, F@H can be funny at times.

Another thought, run "top" in the terminal (if you're running GUI version of linux) and see how much CPU usage FAH is using.
