HDMI upscaler to DP

what are my options?, i know they exist and i'm prepared to pay around $100 for an active converter.

http://www.atlona.com/ATLONA-HDMI-MINI-DISPLAYPORT-TO-MINI-DISPLAYPORT-SCALER-AND-SWITCHER.html
but apparently its discontinued and i've no idea where to get one nor the price for it

goal is simple, i have HDMI and VGA outputs and i need to drive a 29" 2560x1080 screen. preferably dell but LG/asus is an option if its available and if i can get some sort of height adjustment.

I've confirmed that dell and LG supports picture by picture mode that enables it to function as 2 screens from 2 separate inputs however for the dell there will be an obvious blue box around the second input which makes it not feasible to have the computer run both inputs in the screen to patch it as a single display

LG requires display port for picture by picture mode and i know little details about it

swapping the mobo to one with DL-DVI is my best bet but its not available for purchase yet and i've no idea if it would ever be or even available here so that would be last resort if all other options fails

If you are prepared to pay $100 for an active convertor, you are better off just getting a new Graphics card with a DisplayPort output. You can find an AMD 7750 or 7770 (one with DisplayPort or mini-Displayport outputs) for around $100 or less - allowing you to use a regular DisplayPort cable with no need for convertors (getting convertors or active adapters may cause sync issues or other things).

What is your PC hardware specifications and intended use of your monitor just to make sure?

Here is a low profile AMD 7750 graphic card that you can get to use with your 29" 2560x1080 monitor without having to upgrade your power supply:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102969

And it is under $100

unfortunately a GPU is not an option, case(no expansion slots) and PSU(160w) would not support it and i have to rely entirely on motherboard connection. in short i do not want a GPU and i prefer DP over DL-DVI

i'm willing to buy another board except its just not available at all. so i still need an active converter and willing to pay probly up to around $200 maybe abit more for something that works

what i have is an Amd A10 5800k in a ISK100 and i intend to keep it that small. issue remains with my motherboard being the asrock FM275M-itx only having HDMI and VGA

reasons for wanting the 29" is to replace both my 23" screens and free up some desk space, i'll mainly be using it for multi tasking and general web consumption. gaming would be limited and only at a 1280x800 window mode resolution and mostly indie titles so i can have chat windows and other status windows opened on the side

for my intents and purposes the A10 offers all i need, the asrock FM2A85X-itx is not available anywhere yet and so far it is the only board with DL-DVI

I'd probly still want an active converter if i'm to connect a notebook to the screen.

The monitor you are looking at has both DL-DVI and DisplayPort to accept the 2560x1080p resolution. And since you prefer DP over DL-DVI, here is a motherboard I found that you can install your AMD A10. It has DisplayPort output and should be able to use your AMD A10's integrated GPU to output 2560x1080 (supports up to 2560x1600):

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A85XA-G65.html#/?div=Basic

And if you are in the USA it is available at NewEgg for $100

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130663

With this option you would just need a regular DisplayPort cable as you preferred.

If you want to connect a notebook to the screen and have not purchased one yet, I recommend getting one with a DisplayPort output too (notebooks cannot output 2560x1080 resolutions or higher with HDMI or DVI from our experience) - but some people have gotten lucky with a VGA connection (not confirmed ourselves but from some of our customers).

thanks but what you have linked is a full atx board, i need itx.

as for laptop, my current one does have display port but its big and heavy and rather old. i intend to upgrade that but unfortunately the industry doesnt favor DP as much over HDMI so its been a difficult to find the one that fits.

current laptop is a alienware m11x r3, im hunting for something with similar performance class but lighter in weight and preferably in a convertible tablet form bit like the up coming razer edge
