FPS drop across all games making them choppy/unplayable - HALP PLS! - Page 4

Just wondering, have you tried a different video card in the PCI-E's?

Yeh man, like i said before, this problem started with my old 560ti so I went out and upgraded my GPU to a 660ti. Still got the same issues unfortunately.

Try replacing the hard drive first. It does not matter how much power your computer has. If the hard drive is bad, even a strong PC will run slow. Let me know how it goes. thumb.gif

Yeah speaking off, what is your make of hard drive? any logicals attached?
Hard drive should not affect games FPS as once a level is loaded everything takes place in Memory.
If multiple GPU's are giving you the same result I'd assume a problem with the motherboard.

Long shot here but is it remotely possible your CPU is throttling down due because its getting hot? So far all you have addressed is GPU related. Have your cleaned the cooler and re-applied the TIM?

Hard Drive health has a HUGE impact on the overall usability of your system, stability, and speed of your games you play.

Porbably a bad driver I had issues like that when i had the GTX 580s and they had a faulty driver for a while then they finally fixed it. Maybe you can try reverting to an older driver for your current gpu.
I agree bad Driver.. I just SOLVED my issue.
OKay so this worked for me. I put in old SSD drive and it had OS on it. Had to remove all traces of amd catalyst and reinstall to get driver working again. played CS GO, no problem, "Thought hmm, this must be failing SSD, rare but it happens"
Plugged back in my Main SSD and removed all trace of AMD Catalyst and reinstalled 13.1 and tested. So far I went for an hour without a single problem. Perhaps this is a case of corrupted drivers.

Give it a go and remove every trace of AMD catalyst and the driver from your computer and then reinstall 13.1

Yes I agree Hard Drive affects the overall system, but there would be other issues such as crashing, horrible load times, general errors if it was a dying drive. Games like CS:GO once they are loaded run straight from memory and rarely seek from the hard drive, so should not affect FPS rates. Now games like MS Flight Sim X constantly stream data from the hard drive and in this case could be a partial cause to poor FPS, but for what the OP was talking about I don't think this is the case.
