i7 + ASUS Formula + GTX 680 Assembly finished but not able to power on. - Page 2

Do you have the 8-pin EPS plugged in? What about the molex connector on the other end of the board? (I know its for multiple graphics cards, but some motherboards need it anyway)

Try also pushing the GO button. It's beside the big power and reset buttons on the board itself. Not sure exactly how it works since I don't have an Asus board, but it has something to do with overriding a perceived ram incompatibility, so it might work for you.

Hey Grunion, I tried uninstalling the Combo card and the CPU Cooler started running, it's just an early test, i'll try it later and let you know, if it works i'll be sending you a bottle of champagne wherever u are. :=:=)

I had this issue... it's powering on but nothing comes up on the screen right? What's the error on that little display on the mobo?

To fix, pull the gpu... use a hdmi cable for the monitor. Load the OS... Then update the bios.
or you could try to do the blind update using a usb stick.

The later bios supposedly fixed a glitch with the 680 and windows8. I still can't access the bios (as in it never shows).

its the combo card there is a known issue of grouding out the board . best way to fix it is to remove the card reseat it but do not use the metal screw let it float or use a rubber holder.

OP - this might be alot of work, but if you have a non-static work bench or an area that you can lay your parts on - that would probably be your best bet if this combo card issue isn't the problem.

I usually test fire all my rigs outside of the case on a work-bench prior to assembly to make sure all components are firing on all cylinders thumb.gif
