help... gta iv not working with my card

hi guys,

so im a gta lover and i used to play gta iv but one year ago had to format my disk and never played again

today i wanted to play again so i have installed the game and the latest patch but i have changed my gpu to the one on the sig and this is what happens

Just a little tip, if you make the clip available via youtube it would help us a little more as we wouldn't have to download the file. wink.gif

Can you make the clip public? Maybe upload it on Youtube/Vimeo so we can help you better?


For reference, GTA 4 is a notoriously hard game to run. Even on my 2500k, 5850, and 8 GB of ram, I barely get 20 FPS at 1440X900 with medium settings.

You just need a beast of a machine to properly run it.

yes but before i had a gtx 460 and it worked properly and now i have a gtx 580 and its not working....

the thing is i cant regulate anything at the grafics setting and with the auto settings its only using 200Mb of 3Gb of my card vram

Create a .txt called 'commandline' and add this in it:

-norestrictions

Now save it in your gta directory, where launchgtaiv.exe (or whatever it's called) is, it's a common issue with the game where it can't detect more than 2.5gb of Vram.

Also, when using the "-norestrictions" parameter, the graphics menu will keep saying you're exceeding your amount of vram, except this time you'll be able to change the settings without them reverting back.


-edit- For the record, this is how it should look like (im playing GTA EFLC instead but it works pretty much the same way):
